Two weeks to go!
Join us for a pint at Ombrellos to hear Zac McIvor of the Archaeology programme, discuss how kōrero (oral histories) and archaeology can be used to learn about the development of pā in Aotearoa.
@yeti_face Hey Jon! I reduced our intro labs to around 8-10 key minerals for rock classification: qtz, 2 fspars, micas, olivine, px, amph, grt, mag. Others are introduced but not directly assessed. I think there’s definitely room for improvement though, interested to hear others thoughts!
Come join us on March 29th @ombrellos as Dr Annika Seppälä, from @PhysicsOtago tells us about how charged particles released from the sun play a key role in regional level climate variability.
This month's speaker Dr @Jemma_Geoghegan played a key role in developing New Zealand's COVID-19 genome sequencing efforts, which have become a vital part of our response to new clusters.
To hear more about the power of viral genomics, book your spot at Ombrellos for Feb 22nd!
3 years after returning home to New Zealand, I'm FINALLY hearing my inner thoughts being voiced by others. Coming home is wonderful. But also so, so hard.
Thanks @duncangreive, @JaneYee and returnees for making this podcast, it might be the best therapy I've ever received 😂

Not only did this student think my teaching should be rewarded with wine, she also added an @OtagoGeology major to her double degree! 🙌
But how did she know my teenage hotmail address...?
A PEPEHA thread. 1/4
A pepeha is an oratorical address that formally recognises each person’s unique ancestral links, courtesy of their genealogies. It is what both makes us distinct, and united.
I know its contentious but I love when pākeha & tauiwi research & learn pepeha.
