Sylus and MC have truly come so far, not only in their relationship, but in their intimacy as well, and watching that progression unfold has been absolutely beautiful.
In Shared Bliss, we see Sylus struggling beneath the weight of his own desire, to the point where it feels like he is being roasted over an open flame. He is afraid of giving in, afraid of yielding to it, terrified that if he lets go, it will engulf him completely and swallow him whole. But MC is able to meet him right where he is and reassure him that she understands, that she is not afraid, and that she can handle it.
And in Darkbound Souls, we finally see the beauty of that trust come to life. Sylus is able to give himself fully, without restraint, and MC willingly meets him every step of the way. Their intimacy falls even deeper, becoming a shared communion between two souls who can finally give and take without fear.
They are no longer standing at the edge of the abyss afraid of what might consume them. They are falling into it together, willingly and without restraint, truly knowing one another in the depths of their desire.
“Our entwined souls ignite in overwhelming bliss as the world's most beautiful beast races across the fields where desire blooms.”

It is so utterly beautiful how Sylus shows love through empowerment. He uplifts mc by pushing her to make her own decisions and come to her own conclusions, rather than simply giving her the answers or deciding for her.
Throughout the card, we see him guiding her toward a deeper understanding of her own desires, because once you truly know what you want, desire becomes something you command, not something that enslaves you. While he purposely acts as a devil’s advocate, his true motivation was never to persuade her to kill Greymist. It was to empower her. To make her question what she truly desires, what she actually wants for herself.
Take away the rules, the consequences, the bureaucracy, what is the root of your desire? Are you making this decision for yourself, or for the system you serve? Are you acting from your own heart, or are you simply following the rules because that is what you have been taught to do?
The goal was never to persuade her or coax her into a certain answer. It was to help her trust herself, think for herself, and understand herself. Because once you truly know yourself, your goals, your wants, your desires, you can become the master of your own fate. You can command desire. You can live bodly and freely.
And what makes it even more beautiful is that Sylus knows the entire time exactly what her desire is. He can see it. He knows where Greymist is. Yet not once does he tell her. Not once does he take that choice away from her. Not until she asks. He wants every decision to be her own, and hers alone.
But he will always be there to support her in whatever she does choose. He will empower her and uplift her every step of the way, because his end goal is not for her to become a certain kind of person. It is for her to live boldly, freely, and unapologetically as herself.
To know oneself is one of the greatest forms of freedom. And that is what Sylus is trying to give her, not the answer, but the strength to find it herself.
