@MarkHalperin@SecScottBessent Interesting. I think this was his window to be Fed chair, it’ll take a GOP win in 2028 to get this now, but crazier things have happened..
@Claudia_Sahm Agreed completely. Frankly, the withdrawal of the inquiry by DOJ proves it was a pressure campaign and him staying longer ensures it’s over and helps us get back to normal order (I hope).
It is humbling beyond words to be able to spend the afternoon tomorrow with Ben Sasse when his most precious and scarce thing to give away is his time left on earth with us. The man is truly a national treasure, a sane voice reminding us that faith, family, church, and local community are infinitely more important than national rage politics. When these things occupied our attention and the national stuff was in the background, we were happier. Ben reminds us of this truth and points us back to a better way. In his latest interview with Ross Douthat from the New York Times he was asked what he would do different if he could go back 20 years and he said he would honor the Sabbath much more. I think we should listen. I have long believed that people walking in the shadow of death are often given profound moral clarity, and Ben certainly has been given that gift. Please continue to pray for him and his sweet family.
New essay on @BenSasse and the question I can't stop asking myself.
How can a dying man without the ability to grow skin on his face radiate a joy, levity, and peace that the rest of us are starving for?
You cannot watch MVS and Adam Thielen not create any separation and not make contested catches and tell me with a straight face that Roman Wilson isn't better than these dudes.
