We all have a responsibility; to make the world a better place.
It might not be popular, but if you think that idea is right and comes from a place of honest desire to better someone's life, get on with it.
God makes things better, yes, but through people.

I was going to say, when you posted your first thoughts immediately after the ACS, that the leader of such changes are the persons who feel the fire. The best thing to do and the driver of the change was the move you and your team made. Opportunities should be created, yes, but spaces are filed by the loudest voices and pushers for change. otherwise, it becomes an idea that is unrelatable to reality. We create tables no one can sit at.
The pain we go through when answering a question or attempting to solve a problem creates the capacity to make an impact when we are given a seat at the table.
The answer is to keep pushing. Create the platform and make the noise.
You surely have a voice here, and no doubt, more tables will come where you and your team will make more impact for student representation.
Good job, Emmanuel.
@AmCollSurgeons@StanfordGenSurg Surgical simulation remains critical to building surgical skills amongst medical students, residents, and fellows. Its benefits justify the tremendous investments into it by various stakeholders. Kudos to @StanfordGenSurg. Way to go!
Like I said earlier I will be sharing some lessons from the informal session with Dr. Olutoye at the ACS
Lesson 1. Your path may have detours.
As true as it might be geometrically, that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. what if you get from point A to B without the prerequisite skills and preparation you need to succeed at B?
Often times life throws us surprises, but we should never take such surprises more than what they are- just detours.
He shared this while explaining how that even though his interest has always been paediatric surgery, when he came to the US newly after his housemanship in Nigeria, he got no such opportunity. He was offered a position in paediatrics, a situation he embraced fully without even being sure of his final destination. When the opportunity for surgery came, it met him hardworking, accustomed already with medicine in the US and ready!
Today, of course, he is a paediatric surgeon of renowned repute.
Lesson unpacked.
When an opportunity comes that doesn't look like the real thing, be thankful and serve with all you have. That might just be what you need to prepare and position you for your dream move
Its been an amazing time at the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress 2025.
In the coming days I will be sharing some excerpts of the informal meet up session with Dr Oluyinka Olutoye MD, PhD, famed for the feat of fetal surgery at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Ohio. https://t.co/qvCfppPSk3
And yes, we had an informal Naija session!!!

With @HenriFordMD 2023-2024 ACS President.
Meeting him then, just beginning his time as president of the largest gathering of Surgeons in the world was an auspicious moment.
Thank you for the opportunity and the ideas shared.
This was at the ACS 2023 clinical congress in Boston
#ACSCC25
So.
I'd love to welcome myself back to X. Interestingly, I do so at such an exciting time as during the ACS Clinical Congress 2025.
Allow me to share some memories of my ACS journey down the years.
What will 100 Gh cedis equivalent get you in Nigeria. Like saying how many days can you survive on 14k in Naija. Basic survival. Ordinary daily 2k calculation brings it to one week. Dont be deceived, the currency redenomination in Ghana made their currency seem to be more valuable by face value (100 Gh cedi to 100 naira) In actual fact we should be comparing 100000 cedis to 100 naira. Ghana removed 3 zeroes.
@OurFavOnlineDoc For many who read this, Dr. Olufunmi isn't discouraging you from going to church (it sounded like he did, but trust me he isn't). Go to church, worship with believers if you are one. That, is biblical and can't be changed. Get strength, get the word, grow in the new year. HNY
@OurFavOnlineDoc For believers, fellowship is where a word heard could help put you back on track or even help you chart the cause for a new journey. It's always good to gather where believes are, where iron can sharpen iron and where shared goals can receive a much needed boost.
