The simple answer? The creator of that community was there with me on the brown message boards on a neglected Def Jam website as a young new act 24 years ago. I was 21 wet behind the ears. These ppl watched the journey in its entirety, took bullets at the mere mention of my name through every hardship and embarrassing moment. They saw me fall a million times and get up. They saw me self sabotage, implode and be emotional. They fought the battles with me, internal and external. We kept each other alive & there was never much to celebrate besides craftsmanship. It’s a story of resilience, hope, independence & a “delusional” belief in one self. Some of these ppl are TRULY happy for me. It’s inspiring. It says if THAT guy can do it then we all can…. & lastly, they never believed i was as bad as the internet said lol
