The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has stepped up its fight against corruption, touting and passenger exploitation through Operation Air Clean, an initiative of the Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku.
At a stakeholder engagement organised by the General Manager, Customer Service, Mrs Monica Alphonse, held at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, FAAN brought together key stakeholders including Customs, Immigration, the Nigerian Air Force, Airlines, AVSEC and airport concessionaires.
The engagement reinforced the need for collaboration, passenger education, protection of passenger rights and improved service delivery.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) wishes to inform the public that a fire incident has occurred at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The FAAN Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) is currently responding to the incident and working diligently to contain the situation.
There have been no reported casualties or loss of life.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Normal operations have resumed at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, following the earlier incident. Passengers are being processed, and flight activities are continuing as scheduled.

The Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, @Fkeyamo SAN, alongside the Chairman of the FAAN Board, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has commended FAAN Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, following the successful upgrade of the Pilgrim Terminal at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
The upgraded terminal now features:
-300-seat passenger waiting area
-Modern VIP & VVIP lounges
-Free high-speed Wi-Fi
-Fully air-conditioned mosque
-Enhanced screening and security systems
The project reflects FAAN’s commitment to modern, passenger-focused airport infrastructure in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and global aviation best practices.

That’s why FAAN has introduced its 2025 By-Laws the first major update to the Authority’s regulatory framework in over two decades.
The new by-laws, unveiled by The Chairman FAAN Governing Board , Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, provide a modern legal framework that reflects today’s aviation realities and supports more effective airport operations.
According to FAAN Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, the revised by-laws will guide airport operations, strengthen compliance, improve service delivery, and ensure Nigeria’s airports continue to operate in line with international standards.
As aviation evolves, so must the rules that keep our airports running safely and efficiently. The FAAN 2025 By-Laws is another step towards building smarter, safer, and more resilient airports for everyone.
