Where do players' points come from in Fantrax Default Scoring?
A #DraftPL Thread:
Let's start with all Outfielders.
Key Passes (worth 2 points) rule the roost; they are twice as valuable as all categories except goals, aerials, and tackles won.

GW17 was the first gameweek this season where goalkeepers were the top position in #DraftPL.
It was also the first time this season that defenders averaged over 7 PPS, thanks to a season high eight clean sheets.
Don't expect it to last!
Looking at average points per start by FBRef position, we're in the odd position where 4 of the 6 FBRef designations are below average, 3 of them comfortably so.
Antony, a man with 0 goals/assists this season, has a better PPS than all but the top 11 centre-backs (8+ starts).
An update on how the frequency of Fantrax Default Scoring categories have changed over time.
Firstly, here's the change since last season.
Data from Opta via FBRef. Crosses ('C') replace the unavailable ACNCs.

The Premier League has never seen anything like the current goal rate.

@FantraxFox Defenders had been getting worse every year due to the decline in long ball football, but yeah now they’re even worse to due more goals and a corresponding lack of clean sheets. We’re at a point where attacking mids average almost double what CBs score.

Premier League games have averaged 3.16 goals per game this season so far, the highest average in an English top-flight season since 1964-65.
@alitweedale looks at the data to see if 2023-24 can smash records.

Suggesting this could be a ‘moral victory’ for Spurs is surely a new low for the media’s Postecoglu infatuation.
Thankfully Crafton was a voice of reason.
Perhaps Tottenham were the REAL winners despite last nights match against Chelsea?

Let's start with the most important stat.
Teams are scoring more goals than in previous seasons, but the xG average (1.52) suggests this could be even higher.
