i often think about this idea that the soul does not move at the speed of cognition. you can understand something intellectually in a second and still take years to actually realise it. one of life’s more frustrating, and maybe merciful, truths is that you can’t force a realisation before its time
a line from keats i return to often ‘axioms in philosophy are not axioms until they are proved upon our pulses.’ it would appear so many clichés are true. we just hear them long before we’re ready to know them. then, eventually, life proves them upon the pulse
you cannot study literature without also studying history, myths and legends, religions, sometimes art and music and many more topics and this is why i love it so much i think
not saying I write the best fics but as a writer that reads a lot of fics AND a lot of books, I genuinely feel that the thing that has helped my writing the most has been that I’ve lived a lot of life. I’ve felt a lot of pain and love and loneliness and companionship. writing is+
the figs will rot if you don’t eat them. the jasmine blooms for three weeks and then it’s over. your body at twenty-five will never come back, and neither will your body at forty-five. everything you’re saving for later spoils in the waiting. 1/6
people seem to forget that ilya and shane are best friends. they are both cut from the same cloth, soulmates in an staggering way once you realize it
shane has only been that true to himself around ilya, and ilya has only opened up like that for shane. they share a bond forged in their teens, throughout their careers, & even when they were denying their love, they were each others other half in the world
They say you become a museum of everything you’ve ever loved but I think it’s more of a library. You borrow pieces from the ones you love and lend them yours, and keep a record in the archives of your heart.
