(1/3) Less than 10 months from the AAC, you would expect that there are a few UAB salaries that are comparable/competitive for the new league (AD, FB and MBB).
You have to hope there's a plan for making most, if not all, salaries competitive.
(2/3) The core of the department - the athletic trainers, directors of operations, equipment staff, SID's and others - are critical components for success. They need to be compensated accordingly.
Unfortunately, history says the administration is reactive not proactive.
Seems likely these sentiments are shared by many of the 20-plus staff members who have left since May 1, as well as those who have chosen to leave over the past few years.

Jimmy Kolaitis left UAB (his 1st head coaching job) after two seasons to go back to an assistant position. Now Joe Guthrie (1st D-1 HC job) has left after 2 seasons to go back to being an assistant as well.
3 different head coaches for UAB softball in 5 years & 4 in last 6 yrs.
