For two thousand years, the Catholic Church has taught exactly what Jesus instituted: He founded a visible Church with real authority (Matthew 16:18-19), breathed the Holy Spirit on the apostles, and gave them the power to forgive or retain sins (John 20:22-23).
That authority comes directly from Christ Himself—not from any mere human opinion. I too am led by the Holy Spirit and Scripture, which is why I remain in the Church Jesus started. How do you reconcile that passage with confessing only in private?
