Japanese actors and their never-ending "Human-dramanization"
to BL/LGBTQ original works 😂
Want to know their logic behind accepting a clearly LGBTQ project but then, naming it many times as "Human Drama" in interviews 😅
You know what, it's 10 Things I Want to Do Before I Turn 40 all over again.
And the problem isn't just the actors , it's also the production team behind the work and these curated answers. They want to appeal to a general audience while still profiting from queer media and queer audience.
Instead of calling it a BL drama or LGBTQ+ series, they keep emphasizing over and over that it's "a human drama", about "human relationship", it's "universal love", "it's pure love story", "I love you bc it's you" bs.
To me, that feels dismissive, and honestly, this attitude is not even rare among JBLs promotions, especially those from large TV stations like TV T0ky0.
The fact that they keep reframing it as "not just BL" or a "human drama" is disappointing and does not get called out enough.
To me the phrase "not just a BL", "it's a BL but...", "it's a drama than even someone hasn't watched BLs can watch", "it's a pure love story" are all red flags. They don't have to do this when it's het right? Or they even make very graphic adultery/ soft-corn het but the BLs/ queer media have to be pure. 🙂
