@smashby31@joeyferg I dont think anyone was expecting that. I was expecting him to flash more than he did, he definitely looked like he was nervous out there, untimely giveaways and his timing felt off, definitely getting used to the speed of the NHL will take him some time
@thegoldenmuzzy Lots of positives to take from that, style of play, speed PK, decent defensive play. Definitely need to build some chemistry in the bottom 6 and still a lot to clean up in the defensive end but with timethat'll come. Very evide t which team had 12 new roster players and who had 1
@KPapetti I think with more time together, the chemistry will get there and well see the bottom lines find their footing. There were flashes out there but the lack of chemistry was very evident in the bottom 6 and the D. Lots tonwork on but lots of positives too
@chewker87@DerekMackey13@WatchMyReview@talkinbuds Leafs have 8 mil in cap space next off-season, assuming Marchenko gets 12, that drops it down to 3 mil-ish. There aren't really any holes that need to be filled on the roster with them having basically this whole roster locked up through next season anyway
@WatchMyReview@talkinbuds They probably could have, but Marchenko helps the Leafs right away vs. waiting for a young Dman to blossom in 2-4 years. This team doesn't have the luxury of waiting for a project to develop with the core of this team quickly aging
@KPapetti Theyre all going to want to play in Miami with Messi cause theres no state tax, they dont want the pressure of playing in a big market like Europe with all the media attention
@ldl716 Matthews and Roslovic have history together as linemates at the USNTDP back in the day, I wonder if Matthews defensive and shooting ability paired with 2 solid playmaker who may struggle a bit defensively is a good option, especially with more O-zone starts
@ldl716 We need to stop thinking Hildeby=Rask, hes a 25 year old career AHLer with some potential NHL starter upside but most likely grades out as a tandem 1A/1B guy in the long run. The Leafs were likely going to lose him to waivers anyway so might as well add a solid depth player
@logopatt Another difference is the ones Tre brought in cost Mitch Marner, a prospect, a 1st round pick and 2 3rd rounders, compared to just cap space.
@thegoldenmuzzy Im all for bringing in Bob, by all accounts, hes an incredibly hard worker in the guy and takes extremely good care of himself so his age isnt too much of a worry. Seems like a great mentor for AA to learn from going forward.
