The dancing sun miracle, witnessed by around 70,000 people in Fatima, Portugal, on October 13, 1917, was reported even by O Século, an anti-Catholic and secular Lisbon newspaper. Its journalist, Avelino de Almeida, described how the sun “whirled and trembled in the sky” before seeming to fall toward the earth.
