The same people who criticize Israel for killing a single Hamas terrorist are now not saying a single word about the recent violent events in Syria, where hundreds, if not thousands, of Arabs died in just a few days. It's like they suddenly don't care about Arab lives. 😏
What is it about the Gaza war that’s causing all these riots around the world?
During the past 50 years the world has seen HUNDREDS of terrible wars. None of them caused the massive anti-Israel riots we’re seeing now in the universities.
So what’s unique about this particular war?
Are there more civilian losses in Gaza (10,000-14,000) than in other wars?
Not at all.
The war in Congo killed MILLIONS ;
The Syrian civil war almost a million;
The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan killed hundreds of thousands each.
Was it that Israel initiated this war?
Nope.
This war started ONLY because of the savage October 7th massacre that Hamas executed against innocent babies, women and men.
So why?
What’s is it about this war that gets these intellectuals and students out there burning and breaking into buildings?
Why is the ICC singling out Israel?
You know the answer:
Because it’s Israel, the only Jewish State on earth.
It’s the Jews.
It’s the same reason Jews were singled out for the past 2000 years.
Jews were accused of being lazy or too ambitious;
of behaving differently or trying to assimilate;
of being weaklings or being too strong;
of being an economic burden on society or succeeding too much in business.
The true reason was none of these.
It was because they were Jews.
This wave of Israel-hate is simply a new incarnation of good old antisemitism.
Well, we won’t apologize for being Jewish or loving the Jewish State.
Get over it.
How can we wish "Happy Passover" this year and how can we be happy?*
*I will say these things to my family at the beginning of the Pesach Seder this evening:
During the exodus from Egypt, about 3,300 years ago, the angel of death passed over specifically Jewish homes, while this year, on that terrible Sabbath, the angels of death were specifically looking for Jews in order to murder them.
So how can you be happy when so many families have lost their daughter or son, sister, father or grandmother?
How can we be happy when 133 of our brothers and sisters are at these moments in the hands of Hamas monsters in Gaza?
We can and we MUST.
But joy is not in the sense of "I am happy!". This year we are not happy.
Joy is an *action instruction* towards ourselves:
"Don't stew in the depression of the difficult situation, get up, take the initiative, unite, work together to get us out of the dark pit we have fallen into and into rebuilding the State of Israel."
We are called in the Haggadah to come out of slavery to freedom, from protection to joy, and from mourning to a good day, and from darkness to great light, and from slavery to redemption.
This is the *action* required of us now.
We are required to be active, active.
It won't happen alone.
This is the story of our people since time immemorial.
The act of leaving a terrible disaster of death and helplessness to a great act of creation, freedom and sovereignty.
3,300 years ago, from a terrible situation of depressing slavery in Egypt where they murdered our baby boys, we stood up and did a bold thing - we stood up, renounced our Egyptian master, crossed the Red Sea, received the Torah, united, conquered our land and established our Jewish state in the Land of Israel.
And again, 76 years ago, from the abyss of the darkness of the Holocaust, we stood up, shook ourselves off, united and within only 3 years (!) we did a bold thing - we established a Jewish state in the Land of Israel against all odds.
A miracle that does not fall from the Exodus.
Now our generation is required for the exact same action:
To get up from the shock and depression, to shake off to unite and re-establish the State of Israel.
The bold action that is required of us is also to be strong towards our enemies outside,
But especially to be bold with ourselves internally:
To break away from comfortable and warm but terrible and destructive camping:
"The Right Bloc", "The Left Camp", "The Religious", "The Secular Forum", "The Haredim".
"They are to blame for everything."
It is difficult.
But the real camp of all of us is Jewish-Israeli.
"They" are not our enemies. They are our brothers.
Let me be clear:
Unity is not meant for us to be nicer together;
Unity is a condition for our existence.
This year proved to us in the clearest way: we tore ourselves apart from the inside, and the enemy saw this and attacked us at the height of our weakness.
*If we fight each other with hatred one more time, the State of Israel will cease to exist.*
So what is so tough about uniting? What's so hard?
It is easy to say "we will unite", but it is really hard to give up and compromise.
Everyone wants to unite, but on their own terms.
On their ideology.
So no.
Let's put aside ideologies (a difficult sentence for me to write) and work on the common things: the restoration of security, the economy and society.
Also, it is very convenient for us to watch my tribe's TV channel, on our own Facebook page, and hate the other side together.
So you have to get out of your comfort zone.
Take the courage to compromise with each other.
Internal compromise and concessions is the most important value today.
I wish us all a holiday of freedom.
Freedom for the 133 kidnapped.
Freedom from inner hatred.
Freedom in our country.
With deep love to you,
Naftali Bennett

🧵🧵Frente a mucha confusión sobre los ataques indiscriminados de Hamas y la respuesta de Israel, abro hilo desde la perspectiva del Derecho Internacional Humanitario (DIH) / Ley del Conflicto Armado (LOAC)
I am overwhelmed by the heroism stories from Israel. Meet Inbal Liberman, a 25-year-old from Kibutz Nir-Am. She is ex-military and, a year ago, became the first woman to become the Kibutz (small community) security head.
When 1000 terrorists crossed the border from Gaza, she quickly understood what was happening, alerted the Kibutz first responders (all civilians), and correctly deployed them to all the critical points around the kibbutz based on a plan she devised and drilled.
Under her command, the civilians in the Kibbutz fought the attackers, killed 25 of them, and prevented any terrorist from penetrating the kibbutz.
She is a true leader who used skill and thoroughness to prevent a terrible outcome like we have seen all across the border.
