In three primary healthcare centres in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos, infection prevention is becoming a daily discipline.

At the centre of this are three nurses, our Health Champions: Fatimoh, Munirat, and Barakat, serving as Infection Prevention and Control focal persons in their facilities.

Through continuous on-the-job mentoring and supervisory support from Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh (DRASA) Health Trust, they are strengthening safe care practices, protecting patients, and mentoring their peers to sustain infection prevention and control in everyday service delivery.

This reflects a key goal, moving healthcare workers from knowledge to sustained practice.

Through the Turn-a-State-Orange (TASO) Initiative, our health worker Health Champions across primary, secondary, and private facilities came together to boost their skills on Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), led by Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh (DRASA) Health Trust and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.

Participants engaged in hands-on learning, from PPE use and triage to applying IPC tools, moving knowledge into everyday practice. They also developed practical workplans to strengthen IPC systems within their facilities.

By the end, the Health Champions were equipped with clear action plans and a shared commitment to safer care.
