Wow. I haven’t posted in a long time. Anyone still on here? I just started a new Substack on AI and democracy but could use some X followers: @AIplaysitself
@DrZhana I guess I object to your use of the word “left.” And the idea that there is some “movement.” Culture is complex. To pin these things on any broad category of the left seems like a reach. But we all see things through the lens of our own experience. I just don’t see what you see.
@emilynussbaum ‘The Ballad of Dorothy Parker’ by Prince - his character takes a bubble bath with a lady and hears Mitchell’s ‘Help Me’ from 1974’s Court and Spark playing on the radio. Prince sings, “..and it was Joni singing: ‘Help me, I think I’m falling’.”
If you love @fleetwoodmac you might like @Lightningdusty! New album out today. Compelling songs, passionate delivery, quality production. Check it: https://t.co/Q9TOcENbd4
@PetreRaleigh I like Wes Anderson. But his visual style is secondary to his emotional style which I’d call “aloof.” Even intimate moments are played for laughs. In contrast to someone like Wong Kar Wai’s which I’d call “tragically passionate.” In my old age both are starting to seem immature.
@Aella_Girl Maybe novelty makes u feel safe. Protects u from disappointment. Know a human long/deep enough & they’ll disappoint you. Or protects u from disappointing others. Or maybe a fear of change/death/marking time’s passage. With novelty, those things can be mostly ignored. For awhile.
