Public Classification: Picket Ship; not a state of the art warship; defanged, declawed, and otherwise certifiably disarmed; engines overheating; no passengers.
@torybruno Viking quality metrics still state of art:
"Praise day at even, a wife when dead,
a weapon when tried, a maid when married,
ice when 'tis crossed, and ale when 'tis drunk."
- Sæmund's Edda
@AHHHRealScience @quieteric @torybruno This is obviously dwarven tech. The trick is to start with a pigskin in the forge, and not to let Loki distract you when working the bellows.
@nate_vliets @ThePrimalDino@MihirNeal@NASA@NASA_SLS But the most similar rocket to Starship is old shiny Atlas, also made from stainless and used a combination of booster and sustainer engines to go single stage to LEO. 1st orbital Mercury used this system.
I've done that math and that rocket WILL go SSO, just like Atlas.
@nate_vliets @ThePrimalDino@MihirNeal@NASA@NASA_SLS Starship is a very fine replacement for Space Shuttle, but using it for deep space missions is as physically absurd as science fiction uses for slightly modified shuttles like in Buck Rogers and that Bruce Willis movie where they blow up an asteriod.
@ThePrimalDino@MihirNeal@NASA@NASA_SLS I bet no one in space news reported this.

Only real problem we face returning to Moon is congressional funding.
I saw they did report the absurdity that SX going to do a manned Mars mission in 2024.
