Islam is a solid third option to the Western socialist-capitalist scale. It rejects both.

Islam protects private property, inheritance, and trade, but abolishes usury and penalises unused wealth hoarding.

It balances individual property rights with mandatory protection for the poor, needy, and vulnerable.

It also bans sinful trade such as predatory market manipulation (short-selling, price fixing), exploitation, gambling, and sinful sectors and commodities such as pornography and intoxicants.

Capitalism relies on taxing liquid income and realised sales. This targets the workers and leaves the rich to hoard their wealth with 'deferred taxation' in stock portfolios and offshore accounts.

The 2.5% Zakat continuously targets and shrinks hoarded unused wealth which includes stocks (current market value/share of company's liquid assets). Giving it directly to those who need it most.

The rich are therefore incentivised to actively invest their wealth into productive ventures putting it straight back into public circulation which: generates jobs, stimulates economic activity, and increases the supply of goods and services.

This is the Shariah they don't want you to know.

Hi! Nederlander hier. I have been targeted multiple times by the IDF while reporting on their activities in Lebanon. I have made the Dutch embassy aware each time. I have been shot at as recently as four weeks ago, had a grenade dropped close to me by an Israeli quadcopter and last year I was chased by a Merkava tank while reporting about an illegal IDF base in Houla. Almost all incidents were caught on video. Israeli snipers have shot at me 8 times (I am legally in Lebanon, they are not) Will you wait until they kill me to make a statement about specifically Israel’s murder spree? How many hundreds of us do they have to kill before you hold them accountable? They have killed almost 30 media professionals in Lebanon alone.

Cette terre, mon grand-père la tenait de son arrière-grand-père. En deux siècles et demi, ma famille a acheté de la terre. Elle n'en a jamais vendu un mètre, pas un seul jour. Chez nous, on ne construit pas sur la terre. On y plante. Ces arbres ont survécu à plusieurs guerres. Ils ont survécu à tout.

Regardez les deux photos. À gauche, notre terre le 25 juin, la veille de la signature de l'accord entre le Liban et Israël. À droite, la même terre le 20 juillet.

Il ne reste rien. Et c’est justement ça, la preuve. Un incendie laisse des troncs noirs debout. Une frappe laisse des cratères. Ici, pas un tronc calciné, pas une souche, pas un débris. Une terre nue, raclée, griffée par les chenilles des engins. Déterrer un olivier de 500 ans sans le tuer demande des pelleteuses, un savoir-faire, des camions et une destination. Ce n’est pas un dégât de guerre. C’est une opération, sur une terre où il n’y avait ni armes, ni combattants, ni présence militaire. Ma famille n'a jamais été liée de près ou de loin au Hezbollah, et elle ne le sera jamais. Il n'y avait que des arbres, et des gens qui les taillent depuis huit générations.

D'après les témoignages qui nous parviennent, ces arbres auraient été emportés de l'autre côté de la frontière, vers Israël.

L'accord signé entre le Liban et Israël, censé préparer la paix, protège les biens des civils. Je demande simplement qu'il soit appliqué : que le sort des arbres déterrés soit établi, que ceux qui sont encore vivants soient rendus. Si nos arbres sont vivants quelque part, ils peuvent revenir. Je ne cherche pas une vengeance. Je cherche une adresse !

J'ai hésité à écrire ces lignes, pour ne pas provoquer des réactions d'un côté comme de l'autre. Mais je refuse de faire le deuil de ces oliviers. First known US case: American charged for using a “duress” password

Samuel Tunick, an Atlanta resident, is being prosecuted for allegedly giving border agents a passcode that wiped his phone.

The feature comes from GrapheneOS, a privacy-focused Android OS. Entering the duress code triggers a full factory reset.

This is believed to be the first time federal prosecutors have brought such charges.

The incident happened in January 2025 at Atlanta airport. Agents demanded access to his phone without a warrant, saying he hadn’t yet officially entered the US. When they entered the code, the phone wiped itself.

Tunick has pleaded not guilty. His lawyers argue the seizure was unlawful and that agents were investigating his activism against “Cop City.”

The case raises big questions about digital rights at the US border.
