There's a myth that "change has to start at the top". Change doesn't come from top-down or bottom up. Change can come from anywhere. It emanates from the centre of networks. We get to the centre through small groups, loosely connected & uniting them with a shared purpose. The first female African-American physician in the US was Rebecca Lee Crumpler.

Her medical practice was focused on women and children of the poor and she paid little attention to if they were able to pay.

In her book, she hoped to "impress upon somebody's mind the possibility of prevention".

We can also better apply preventative measures in health today.
