I want to honour David Hencke.
I know David was so much more than a journalist – a loving husband and father – but what a journalist he was. It was a privilege to have known him over the last five years.
Reading the Guardian's obituary, I realised I hadn't known the half of what he had achieved in Westminster. From exposing the cash-for-questions scandal to holding those in power to account for decades, his work changed public life in this country.

Our paths crossed when David attended and reported every day of my 10-day whistleblowing Employment Tribunal in June 2022. His account - read by many doctors - can be seen on the below link.

David understood instinctively why whistleblowing matters and why those with power must be held to account. He gave his time, his attention and, above all, his integrity. My wife and I are hugely grateful that David chose to follow and document our journey.
Our society desperately needs people - and journalists - like David. He pursued the truth without fear or favour, often on behalf of people who had little power of their own.
They don't make journalists like David Hencke anymore, and the world is poorer for his passing.
Rest in peace, David.
For the past two and a half years, the UK government has armed a genocide as it was livestreamed around the world.
Now, some politicians are pretending they have always been against the crimes they enabled.
Too little, too late. Your complicity will never, ever be forgotten.
Karen Newman from the Board of Deputies: ".. they're just about to say they're Jewish.. then they look up & see a Palestinian flag on the uniform, thats not a safe moment"
This isnt about tackling antisemitism. Its about cracking down on any display of support for Palestinians
BREAKING - A Swiss Tribunal recognises the legitimate right to peacefully oppose the ongoing genocide in Palestine.
One again: justice for Palestine starts at home. It only takes people caring and applying Intl Law. And persevering.
.@cenkuygur: "Its weird to ban people who are against a genocide, but allow people in who are pro genocide"
But not weird when you realise the govt doing the banning has been supporting, arming & helping the regime committing that genocide.
"My personal pride and joy." That's how Peter Mandelson described the Palantir deal he brokered.
The whole thing stinks. Kick Palantir out of our NHS, now.
Calling them 'settlers' gives them dignity they don't deserve.
How about renaming them for what they are: Murderers, land thiefs, occupiers, war criminals, thugs, fascists.
Whatever they're called, they belong in the Hague standing trial for their atrocities.
I'm Jewish.
I condemn genocide.
I condemn the Labour Governments role in the Genocide.
The Prime Minister repeatedly conflating criticism of the Israeli Governments genocide and actual antisemitism is disgusting - and makes so many of us as Jewish people feel less safe.
Ministers have turns a blind eye to Israeli war crimes. Starmer tried to justify them, and the governmenthas authorised all kinds of support, including arms' sales.
This is complicity.

Prominent MENA Regional Director Sara Qudah confirms a horrifying reality on CNN. The Israeli military deliberately blocked the Red Cross for seven hours, preventing the rescue of a trapped, unarmed journalist who was alive and calling for help. A calculated war crime.
Amal Khalil was alive for hours. She phoned her family and the Lebanese military for help. People followed in horror as her colleagues updated the world on what was happening. And yet Israel blocked the Red Cross from reaching her for seven hours. That is stone cold murder.
After the initial Israeli attack Amal took shelter in a building & left a voicenote: "Dont worry about me, I'm fine.. I'm waiting for UNIFIL & the Red Cross as a precaution"
But Israel was blocking rescuers from reaching her. They then bombed the building she was in, killing her
We often criticise journalists for their lazy reporting, but just as important is spotlighting those still committed to reporting with integrity. Credit where credit is due, this is excellent @paraicobrien
I urge everyone to watch this report by Channel 4 News about Israel’s killing of Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil.
“Under international humanitarian law, journalists are afforded the same protection as civilians… If that journalist has a particular sympathy with a particular cause, that doesn’t mean that protection is removed…
… the IDF said the incident is under review. Don’t hold your breath…”
Providing the necessary context and not taking Israel’s claims at face value.
This is how every journalist should be reporting.
Oh Lord what will it take for Europe's leaders to show some integrity?
To ''limit'' trade with the colonies (WAR CRIMES) is a smokescreen. If Int'l law means anything, you don’t tweak complicity: you end it.
Trade with Israel -accused of atrocity crimes - must be suspended. Now.
