@JustinWStapley In Utah, our most important and impactful vote is who we vote for at caucus, followed by who we vote for in the primary. Our least impactful vote is in the general election. That is why caucus has to be as accessible and welcoming as we can make it.
@RykerJackson97@LGHendersonUtah My understanding is that there isn’t a sufficient agreement in place to protect voter privacy. Do you trust the DOJ to do a good job protecting that privacy and not to use the data for political purposes?
“I have yet to see any problem, however complicated, which, when looked at in the right way, did not become still more complicated.”
- Poul Anderson, quoted in chapter one of Thinking in Systems by Donella H Meadows
@rachelle_morris@hauserdan I have not read that book but I have heard a couple of people mention it so I will look into getting it. Thanks! I won’t be at convention this weekend though so we will have to find another time to talk
@Jensen_Utah@DaylanAlzamora That is just a bit more than twice the number of the 32 precinct chairs I credential before CCM. And an hour is plenty of time for me to do the credentialing before a CCM
@Jensen_Utah@DaylanAlzamora I wonder if it would be possible to just have each of the house district chairs there to credential their own delegates using a paper list. My district only had 77 delegates. I and one volunteer could have knocked out credentialing them within the two hours between 8 and 10.
@RepubliKate@Anntrove@Jensen_Utah I can appreciate that. I don’t think people realize how cheap it is to run for state house through the convention. I think my district has 77 county delegates. Only 77. You could visit all of them in person in the month between caucus and convention
@davidhinckley@tannerlindsay@BBforUT I do remember that Daybreak was split into two house districts in all three independent commission maps so I am not convinced it will be better other than incumbents having less say
@NateForUtah Nate, I am curious how, it it was a 50 point Dem seat, the primary wasn’t more competitive then? Were people just unwilling to challenge the party status quo?
@MikeCarey4CC Mike, how does a federal legislative seat affect if Utah is purple or not? The people voting for democrats have been here the whole time. Just because they are now concentrated in a congressional district doesn’t mean there are suddenly more of them to vote in statewide races.
@DeseretStone What would that investment do? Gov Cox won the primary. You think more republicans than not choose to vote for Gov Cox because they didn’t know enough about Phil Lyman?
@BradEBonham How can they turn the state blue without the voters being convinced to vote for Democrats? And if the voters are convinced to vote for Democrats, doesn’t that just mean the Republicans need better solutions for things?
