Probably the most.moving and thought provoking plenary I've ever heard.
So many things to take away and think about around both the academic and humanity of our identities as clinicians.
Congratulations to Dr. Timothy J. Wood, @twood_tim, #recipient of the 2024 Dr. Maureen Topps #Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Assessment of Clinical Competence.

At #ICRE2024 professionalism panel Remembering, as a kid, I was told medicine is a "noble" profession. In school, it was a rigid construct. In practice, who didn't conform were penalized. Maybe we need to redefine professionalism with the noble, human attributes it needs.
A #longarmselfie that I have been looking forward to since #ICRE2024 started. If you are reading this at home, you have to plan to come to @ICREConf next year in Quebec City
@ICREConf#ICRE2024. Lovely day in Ottawa, time to relax with friends and share insights, challenges, stories, laughs and old times as we discuss everything from SimTREK to the professionalism plenary and the workshops of the day
#ICRE2024 Research as a criterion for resident selection with @ssilva62442 and the discussion is hot! If we ban the consideration of research, we will miss a way of choosing.
The wicked problem of difficult change... @ssilva62442 and K. Weingarten provoke with the question "should we ban consideration of research activity during resident selection?" @ICRE2024. If you are part of resident selection in your program, what do you think?
Professionalism in medicine is undergoing more than just a facelift, and will not be one definition for all situations. We must all contribute to what it will become and pay attention to how we live it individually and collectively. Medicine is redefining itself @ #ICRE2024
@VauxEmma does a wonderful facilitation of the plenary with the powerful speakers @SarooSharda_MD, @jobusar, @jbullockruns and @DrTashaWyatt on professional @ #ICRE2024 - a discussion that will continue beyond this forum.
@jobusar asks us to include humility and compassion in our concept of professionalism. @SarooSharda_MD wants the ability to transform without guilt and shame. @DrTashaWyatt wants learners to have agency. @jbullockruns wonders about how we include expertise #ICRE2024
@jobusar disagrees! Isn't professionalism in medicine what we need to do to ensure that the patient is cared for and respected, as opposed to constructed, accepted behavioral norms? Now the debate is heated at #ICRE2024 👍so very gripping!
@jobusar, @SarooSharda_MD, @jbullockruns and @DrTashaWyatt discuss professionalism and their individualities. The discussion makes me think diversity is now challenging professionalism as it was "constructed" by a few. So relevant to be on stage at #ICRE2024
