I cannot tell you what absolute fiction this is. AI is heading for a crash and this cackhanded Terminator narrative is being engineered to save them. The fact that the unsubstantiated testimony of a former employee has been the top story on BBC News all day is absurd and irresponsible.
This attention-seeking whistleblower will probably be using his newfound fame to launch his own AI startup soon you watch. It's utter nonsense. The world's not going to end. AI will never be able to build bioweapons. It still struggles to spell rhododendron. Put the kettle on. Enjoy your Sunday night.
'Dark Reading Matter' is the 8th and final book in the Thursday Next series, begun in 2001. I'm touring in the UK and USA in October and these are the venues I will be visiting. Full details at https://t.co/CG9NisbcHB
@WhosThatGav I absolutely loved Words and Pictures as a kid. I still remember the teacher wheeling in the trolley with the telly on it so the class could watch it. This was pre-VCR days, so we had to catch it when it was aired.
@JohnBensalhia Well, now that song is in my head, I might as well continue the theme…
I hope you’re gonna have a good time. I'm glad it's your birthday. Happy birthday to you!
@daveainsworth63@bbcthree I saw it in the cinema back in 1985. It’s been a favourite ever since. My daughter has the poster framed on her bedroom wall so I’ve done something right!
@JohnBensalhia I was never a big fan of Star Trek (I was definitely a Whovian growing up) but I did once meet William Shatner. I’ve met a few authors in my time but he’s the only famous actor I’ve ever met. Funnily enough, I was wearing a Doctor Who t-shirt at the time.
