I’ve said this before but if you’re chronically ill DO NOT QUIT YOUR JOB. Make sure you get long term disability insurance, and if you can pay the extra to get 80-100% of your pay do it. Know your company’s FMLA and disability policies
I've finally moved away from my abuser, after 3 years of having to stay with her for survival. I have a place of my own again.
I'm happy to have made it, but the relief is... slow. It's taking a while for my body to realize and accept that things are safer now.
For the first time in years, today I was allowed to start a NORMAL dishwasher load. Without overcrowding the dishwasher, without washing every single dish by hand first. With ORDINARY, inexpensive, not-greenwashed dishwasher detergent. And without having to ask for permission.
@mbeilste@SurvivingCFS Was gonna say this too. My mom often got irritated with me when she saw me resting, or watching TV or playing games. I actually still have trouble playing games for longer stretches of time because my brain keeps expecting someone to be mad at me for it.
People used to talk about climate change as though at some point it’d get bad enough that we couldn’t deny it and had to address it. Covid made it clear that the bigger a problem is, the more tempting it is to believe it’s not real, and the more investment people have in denial.

Revenge bedtime procrastination with ADHD is a special kind of hell. I am physically exhausted, but I refuse to go to sleep because 2 AM is the only time the universe stops making demands. I am actively destroying my tomorrow just to experience three hours of unsupervised, demand-free existence today
Simultaneously, these pejoratives are misused to describe actual despicable individuals and actions. Bigotry is not "stupidity", it is (wilful) ignorance, selfishness and evidence of being influenced by propaganda. Apoliticalness is not "lazy" it is supine, complacent, complicit.
Alright. Thread time! "Lazy" does not exist. "Stupid" does not exist. Both terms are used to refer to such a wide spectrum of both disabilities and unrelated, wilful and often sordid attitudes and behaviours.
I was curious so I did a quick search. According to reddit, "the reason he has a mask on is because he can't get sick before the upcoming shows."
Some artists understand our new reality, and others are frequently cancelling concerts.
