Excruciatingly tragic, sad and unbelievable. Too much for even a parliamentary inquiry on the state of child development services in WA to handle. Time for a Royal Commission into health services in WA, especially for our kids.
EXCLUSIVE: The heartbroken mother of a 14-year-old boy from a South West public school who took his own life last week believes he was failed by WA’s health and education systems. https://t.co/o7M8qgyWhX
@westaustralian Hard for under 16’s when their social media accounts die. Problem not solved. Maybe those accounts could have been subject to an approved ‘safe’ person; not necessarily a parent, being responsible for content while all sorted? Some kids will now be dangerously isolated. Tricky.
@westaustralian Whoever came up with this headline deserves a few congrats from the news room I reckon. Not bad, from whatever political angle. Hope this wins an award!
@westaustralian Kids failing to read in Year 3 in 2025 is the ‘canary in the mine’. It tells us it’s time to return to basics; to focus and prioritise the early childhood years. When life gets too cluttered we forget the things money can’t buy: being kind and spending time reading with children.
@westaustralian Yes, monumental is iconic, and football is always worthy of celebration, but tomorrow I would like the front page; the priority news, to be about standing up for children; calling out the horrific of abuse that could only manage page 10 of ‘The West’ today. Tomorrow please.
@westaustralian Mmmmm. . . So another reason for families and government to prioritise their focus on early childhood. It’s a complex world; parents and grandparents can’t do it alone. We are all responsible for children. Every word. Every action is important for a child.

What an era. What a woman…both of them. M*A*S*H kept my emotions real when I became a doctor. A little bit of sadness rained down today. ♥️

Thank you @RoyalFlyingDoc for welcoming back to your family for a chat and for acknowledging my small part in the history of an iconic organisation. And thank you to all the patients 🥰
@westaustralian A combined vaccine to cover all five strains of meningococcal is the best news for families, their kids now and for future generations. These milestones are worth a celebration. We have great researchers who quietly deliver and make a difference. Wow! 😇🌟💛
@westaustralian So good to read this story of hope, positivity and the ultimate joy and miracle of birth. Reminds me that in 2025 we have parents prepared to share their experiences , however difficult, and medical experts that never give up on challenging situations. ♥️💛
@westaustralian Clone him! Doctors like Andrew Leech make a difference. 😇 To be in the present is everything for kids, and Dads are so important. I love my Dad. There for me when I made life changing decisions. Without his backing my life would have been different. ♥️⭐️😇
Elizabeth Green’s memoir is interspersed with the raw emotions of a young woman battling to find her place in a male-dominated profession, at a time where struggling mentally was not an option. https://t.co/hY6JSWUpFS
@westaustralian A huge thank you @westaustralian for always finding a way to focus on the incredible children and families of WA and the people who care. 😇♥️As a kid growing up in Wyndham and Kununurra I didn’t know I could be a flying doctor but there were kind people who did. Ta. 🥰
Love a chat! Great fun speaking with Johnathan Green ABC Listen App The Year that Made Me @abcnews @abcperth @ABCaustralia ♥️And lucky there were impeccable edits @jocrothers 😇 https://t.co/9VnHVjOiPX
@AlboMP With the shut down of private obstetric birthing suites across Australia, 10 in the past few years, women and babies absolutely need new homes. But where are the paediatricians, nurses, obstetricians and psychiatrists? Babies aren’t all born screaming.
This what our doctors, the GP’s who do the hard work, are saying @westaustralian. They are 100% correct. Australia is about to ditch its quality medical care to win votes @AlboMP @PeterDutton_MP The way we treat our GP’s is disrespectful.
@westaustralian This show was brilliant and I think challenges our beliefs and our bias about what exactly is an ordinary, loving home. Sometimes love is not enough.
