Conclusion
For myself, I need to work in contrast. Emotional rxns/desire to “work fast” aside, it is all around a good idea to
1) create more opps to refine color/shapes
2) finish with a more refined piece by way of separating dealing with value into its own step in the process

Doing a value study before jumping into drawing/illustrating digitally pros and cons

Pros
- treated as a prereq/prework to coloring, saves time on the backend by paying closer attention to contrast early
- let’s u hone in on contrast
- end w/ more clearly defined shapes

Cons
- more files, more space/memory used, got “scratch disk full” ps errors
- feels repetitive adjusting colors in a value study then again in the final (doubles as a pro) but this is on the emotional level
- adds another step in the process which can feel demoralizing/slow

@nowayjermaine What would u recommend if we are in the early stages, looking for gigs and clients, and DO do these things (to the best of our knowledge) but don’t have the experience yet to prove it? My portfolio doesn’t include case studies yet bc they’re all self initiated personal work

Bongbong never did time for tax evasion. Young voters & the masses hit the polls looking for change from a history of corruption/violence. From an outsider perspective, it’s sad to see how nepotism & “crony capitalism” continues to hold the Ph back from true progress

I spent a few months in the Philippines and coming from my liberal NYC/Bay Area bubble in the US, didn’t realize how many Marcos and Duterte supporters there are in the Ph, and how many I would interact with, from all walks of life

Loyalists see it as a golden age of development: cultural centers, hospitals.

Most concerning - the PH hasnt held the Marcos’ accountable for their crimes. Imelda never jailed, history books don’t educate young people about martial law & the thousands detained/tortured/jailed…
