For decades under the Assad regime, UN delegations have never visited Syrian prisons or interested in the thousands of tortured and missing people.

Syrian human rights activist Muaz Mustafa reported the discovery of 100,000 bodies in a mass grave near Damascus. According to him, this is only "the most conservative estimate," and the burial site in the Al-Qutayfa area is one of five discovered during years of investigations. Among the dead are not only Syrians but also citizens of the United States, United Kingdom, and other countries.
