@dfeely14 Torey has made the playoffs twice, and the team has won over 90 games once. To make things worse his teams are 3-9 in the last week of the season the last two seasons with the playoffs on the line. Seems like a nice guy, but it's time for something different.
@Dbacks@CaesarsSports They need to start playing "Too Little Too Late" every time, Torey goes out to make a late game pitching change at this point. A two run lead, given away without recording an out. Expecting the second reliever to be flawless to put out the fire you created. Torey masterclass.
@dfeely14 Credit to the team playing competitively with nothing to play for, but it shouldn't look like a fire drill every 9th inning. Torey puts in one choice that backfires and he has to scramble to try to find options to get outs. Enough already. Give pitchers set roles in the bullpen.
@KristaMill75755@7th_defenseman@Dbacks@CaesarsSports Yeah, it just doesn't make any sense. You have to get to extras first. Let Thomas hit, and then you can pinch hit either ADC or McCann for Herrera, and still have McCarthy on the bench. But Alexander's horrible at bat before that puts Herrera in that position to begin with.
@ZeBakermann@dfeely14 Probably missed that part. When I saw Naylor start, stop and then start thinking about going again, I was kind of glad he didn't go. But if he didn't decide to stop, I agree he probably scores.
@7th_defenseman@Dbacks@CaesarsSports I couldn't believe they let Herrera stay in to hit. Not only is he batting .190, but he's slow. Perfect candidate for a double play in a situation where that ends the game. I don't understand that at all, especially with ADC on the bench.
@ZeBakermann@dfeely14 Naylor probably would have been thrown out, so I don't mind that. The Alexander at bat was awful though, you can't strike out there. But once he does, you have to PH for Herrera, and if you didn't use McCarthy earlier and let Thomas hit, chances are Jake beats out a ground ball.
@VTHistory25@mlat_55@helliott94@beatmastermatt I don't understand how this would render them ineligible to vote. If they are working, why not have a say? We have some states in this country where you could nominate a rock, tell voters it is republican or democrat and it would receive votes.
@dfeely14 Probably too aggressive there, but would like to see the speed game that they relied on a couple years ago return. 2 outs with Carroll up instead of 1 out with Marte behind him, is way different.
@AndrewL76131524@dfeely14 Decisions backfire, I get that. But Torey routinely compounds his mistakes. How do you not have Tawa bunt in his second AB with no outs? Naylor could literally tie the game without a hit, instead Tawa keeps DP in order by striking out, and the rally immediately ends.
@dfeely14 It's definitely time for them to sell. But wisely. Figure out what they want the future core to look like. Sell Gallen, Suarez and see if anyone wants ERod. As for the bullpen, promote any kids from AAA and have a trial by fire. Stop sticking with what obviously doesn't work.
@dfeely14 They unfortunately do just enough things to prevent them from winning. But it's games like this that aggravate the fan base. Great fight back, but no steal attempt or hit and run to make sure Suarez bats in the inning. Torey puts Alexander in the game to do absolutely nothing.
@dfeely14 Sure the bullpen is bad, but my issue for years is Torey. As a manager who has seen this for years, and already a few times this year, why on earth are you waiting until the game is TIED to go get Ginkel if he doesn't have it?He's the west coast version of Aaron Boone.
@GetUpESPN@Espngreeny Maybe just have the worst 2 teams play an extra game the weekend after the season ends, before the playoffs start where the winner gets pick #1. Discourages tanking in two ways, the winner of the bonus game gets #1 pick, and because players wouldn't want to play an 18th game.
@BringTheHeatAZ@MrAzSports Agreed. There is bullpen depth and then whatever Torey does. Have a set bullpen rotation, stop with the "matchup" nonsense, especially since you have to manage around the pitcher having to face at least 3 batters even if he doesn't have good stuff on that particular day.
@BrandonPerna Not surprising it's an NBC intro. Much like their NBA on NBC intros they made every game feel like a must tune in event with their presentations
@Jolly_Olive Still probably getting in Jolly. All they have to do is win tomorrow, and then spilt Monday with Atlanta and they are in. Think they said on broadcast that the Brewers are not using high leverage bullpen guys tomorrow, so might favor Mets.
@dfeely14 Odds are slim, but if they win tomorrow and Mets lose 2 or Braves lose out they still get in. One thing I've notiis theyced struggle to manufacture runs or "cause chaos" like last year. They didn't deserve to win today, but still could have if they manufactured a run or two.
