Last night around 7 pm, a 5-y-o girl was killed by a driver. Her family suffers an unimaginable loss. If #visionzerodc can't ensure a child can safely ride her bike in a neighborhood, we must make major changes to do better. This can never be accepted as part of life in DC.

Redesigning streets to make it impossible to drive recklessly is worth the money, and worth slowing and inconveniencing drivers. This little girl’s life would have been worth it. Heartbreaking.

#Breaking 5-year-old girl struck by a van on 14th St NE & Irving St NE and pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the van remained on the scene. It happened around 6:56pm. Police say the girl was riding a bike or a scooter. #MPD

Today I watched a woman with six young children walk on a sidewalk that did not exist two years ago. Reminded me that mobility doesn’t have to be as complicated as the latest trend. Sometimes its as simple as the difference between walking in the mud and the dignity of a sidewalk

Hogan is scaling back the I-495 Beltway & I-270 widening. New plan "focuses solely on building a new American Legion Bridge & delivering two high occupancy toll (HOT) managed lanes in each direction" on I-270 to I-370 with "no action on I-495 east of the I-270 eastern spur."
