I was in Beaver Stadium on September 2, 2023. Drew Allar's first start. Over 110,000 of us showed up to watch the next era begin.

Second pass of his career, he dropped a 72-yard touchdown into KeAndre Lambert-Smith's hands like it was nothing. The whole place shook. I don't need to tell you how that felt.

A five-star kid with a cannon, finally turned loose. You walked out of that stadium certain you had just watched the future arrive.

I have been to a lot of Penn State games. That night still hits differently from almost any of them.

It didn't define the Allar era but it captured it perfectly. The talent was there. The arm was there. The promise was there.

And then it wasn't.

Now we are about to start a whole new era. New coach, new quarterback, a brand new era taking its first snap in that same stadium come September.

I was there when the last one began. I will be there for the start of this one.

Will Matt Campbell deliver on the potential? We find out this fall.
