He has a solid case to be regarded as the greatest World Cup manager ever. Quarter-final in 2014, champions in 2018, runners-up in 2022, and now at least fourth in 2026. Add that to becoming the manager with the most World Cup wins, and you’re looking at a level of consistency we’ve never seen in international football.
People always reduce Deschamps to he had great players, but history shows having etalent guarantees nothing. Brazil, Argentina, Germany, England, Portugal and Spain have all taken incredible squads to World Cups and failed long before the latter stages. Deschamps didn’t just have talent, he built teams that understood tournament football.
His biggest strength was adaptability. The France that won in 2018 wasn’t the same as the one that reached the final in 2022, and neither looked exactly like this 2026 side. Different generations, different tactical approaches, different key players, yet the outcome remained almost the same, France were always there when the tournament reached its peak moments.
He also deserves credit for managing egos better than almost anyone. France has never lacked world-class talent, but that has often come with huge personalities and dressing-room challenges. Deschamps created an environment where the collective almost always came before the individual, and that’s one of the hardest things to achieve in international football.
People may not enjoy his pragmatic style, but World Cups are not won by playing beautiful football every game. They’re won by minimizing mistakes, managing pressure, adapting to opponents, and delivering in knockout matches. Deschamps mastered those aspects better than almost any coach of this modern era.
His record speaks for itself too, a quarter-final, a World Cup title, another World Cup final, and now another deep run to at least fourth place. That’s four consecutive World Cups where France were genuine contenders until the very end. No boom-and-bust cycle, no rebuilding excuse, just sustained excellence over 12 years.
Whether you personally rank him above the likes of Zagallo, Beckenbauer, or others is open for debate. But what shouldn’t be debatable is that Didier Deschamps belongs in the absolute top tier of World Cup managers. When you combine longevity, consistency, knockout pedigree, adaptability across generations, and the sheer volume of victories, very few managers in football history can present a stronger World Cup résumé.
I was 13 during the 2007/08 chaos. Rewatching those clips today as a grown up is pure heartbreak
Imagine fighting, bleeding & destroying lives for politicians who are both dead right now.
Their children inherited dynasties and we inherited the trauma. Never fight their wars.
The High Court has ordered Safaricom and DTB to pay a customer Ksh. 4.42 million that was fraudulently withdrawn from her bank account following a SIM swap fraud. The customer reported the unauthorized SIM swap to Safaricom immediately, but before the issue was resolved, fraudsters accessed her DTB mobile banking account and transferred Ksh. 4,418,601 through a series of unauthorized transactions.
Both Safaricom and DTB appealed after the lower court found them jointly liable, with each arguing that the other was solely responsible for the loss. The High Court dismissed both appeals, holding that each organization owed its own independent duty of care to the customer and could not escape liability by shifting blame to the other.
The Court found that Safaricom failed to adequately prevent and respond to the unauthorized SIM swap, while DTB failed to detect and stop suspicious high-value transactions despite obvious red flags. It upheld the lower court's decision, ordering Safaricom to bear 60% of the loss and DTB 40%, reaffirming that organizations handling personal data and digital financial services must take proactive steps to protect customers from fraud.
We’re watching them start another 2007/2008.
Let me remind you guys that the violence that happened in 2007/2008 wasn’t just PEV. It was planned way before the elections. Young people were radicalized and armed months before the elections.
How you people thought someone that was part of YK92, a secretary general of KANU an ex ICC indicatee , and a vengeful man could lead this country still baffles me. Worst some of you still think he will change if given a second chance. You are grooming a dictator.
