TJ Richason (28 IN) Keeps this ball fair down the RF line for an RBI double. Continues to show good feel for the barrel w/ an aggressive approach at the plate. #WWBA@PGMidwestBB
We need to talk more about Sonny Grays high school lore:
He was lead of the school musical (which was “high school musical”, ironically)
AND starting quarterback.
So it wasn’t shocking to me that his “prep routine” for games was pretty laid back
I can’t imagine he’s a big thinker when it comes to mechanics, stuff, or execution on the mound.
Just goes out there and has fun with it.
Can learn a lot from that.
2 weeks ago I met with Travis Bazzana, the #1 overall pick in the 2024 MLB draft.
We had a conversation I wish all baseball players could have heard.
Here's the #1 takeaway (that made him the first overall pick):
I played 6 years of professional baseball.
Many who I've played with are in the MLB.
Here's the #1 important characteristic I saw (that you can’t afford to lose):
There’s no such thing as a “baseball specific” lift
Developing a ton of general strength and athleticism will pay larger dividends for you as a player than anything “baseball specific”
But if I had to give one exercise to every baseball player for single leg strength/stability/proprioception,
The Zercher Curtsey Squat would be it:
FINAL- UPLAND BRACKET
🚨CINDERELLA SWEEPS THROUGH UPLAND! GRENADIERS TO LEWISTON!!
Indiana Southeast defeats Missouri Baptist 14-10 to punch their ticket to the World Series! The Grenadiers score 7 runs late to handle business and SWEEP through Upland. #NAIABall
If you’re picking a college to attend and play baseball, these are the questions you NEED to ask yourself before making a commitment:
(In no order of importance)
1. Will I have the opportunity to get playing time? Are there veteran guys at the position I play currently or is there a job opening?
2. Do I like the coaching staff? Do I align with their values?
3. Have I met any players? Do I like them?
4. Do I like the campus? Do I like the location? Do they have a desired field of study for me?
5. What are the living arrangements like for students in my class rank?
6. How far is it from home? Do I care?
7. How are the facilities? Weight rooms? Athletic training spaces?
8. Is this a place I really like?
9. Are there NIL opportunities? (If actually applicable)
Make sure you’re not making a preconceived decision based on arbitrary factors like uniforms, glove deals, or backlit locker rooms
Seen too many guys leave big time programs because the fit wasn’t correct and they didn’t do enough homework on the front end.
Do your homework. Save yourself the headache of the transfer portal. Make sure it’s the right fit.
