@DjokerNole Praying for a quick recovery for you @DjokerNole! Thanks for being an inspiration to many young tennis players around, including my son! 🙌🏻🎾
@NothingMajorPod@DjokerNole So, since Novak’s been working with Murray, has he been using a lob shot more? 🤷🏼 Seems like he’s been hitting the lob a lot at Brisbane
He hesitated and said “Oh, they were looking for someone who had a younger ‘style’” to which I responded, “Wait, do they think I’m too old?”, to which he basically confessed, “Yes” and proceeded to imply to me that I probably was “too old” to be considered for jobs “like that”.
…offering me a different job for a church that would (honestly) not be a good fit for me: older style, more liturgical and theologically, not on the same page. I declined, but asked him about the other job I applied to and wondered why I had no reply?
I applied to a job I thought that Is be a good fit, but then didn’t hear anything back. Then I received an email from one of their associates (they typically are part-timers who have other jobs; this guy happens to have a very well-known worship music podcast)…
A personal story: for awhile, I have been transition as a worship pastor. I began interviewing again, and in the process connected with one of the major church job placement organizations…
“…the more I realize that the Bible is true. With age comes wisdom. Churches should desire older worship leaders. Though youth should not be despised (1 Tim. 4:12), biblical wisdom reminds us that being young carries liabilities against which we need to be on guard.”@zachicks
“…And I’m guilty myself of playing into the hands of these gods every time I entertain a fear of getting older or judge an “older” worship leader as irrelevant or out of touch…The truth is: the more I’ve gotten to know the generations of worship leaders above me…”
“That we were even having such a discussion tells us that culture’s obsession with youth has invaded the heart of the church…This ageism is more than just bias and prejudice. It’s sinful idolatry…”
“….They might be just fine in a traditional or blended worship environment, but if we want to “reach young people,” a forty-something at the helm is no good….This is lamentable. And (to make up a word) repentable…”
“…He or she must not be truly “with it” and up on trends (another value exposed which needs to be challenged). He or she wouldn’t be capable of authentically crafting and leading a musical style that is current and fresh…”
“No worship leader really voices it. No congregation overtly acknowledges it. But many of us think there is something lacking in a worship leader who has gray hair or smile lines…

@lohanthony “...For God has re-created you all over again in his perfect righteousness, and you now belong to him in the realm of true holiness.”
Ephesians 4:24 TPT
@lohanthony Be encouraged in Christ, let the voice of truth drown out the noise, you are loved by God. “And to be transformed as you embrace the glorious Christ-within as your new life and live in union with him!
