No decision from SCOTUS this week.

Spoiler Alert: They’ll issue a confounding opinion later this month, focusing on the broad question of Executive Immunity vs. the specific charges in the indictment. They’ll likely punt back to the lower courts to decide what charges fall within/outside the scope of the office, letting Trump appeal those decisions and essentially run out the clock on a trial before the election.

Toothless Roberts will do little to defy Alito’s will on the matter, and Thomas has no intention of disrupting his regular delivery of “gifts”. The Senate will hem and haw, but do little to hold them accountable.

This isn’t about upholding rule of law for the highest court in the land. It’s about the ideologues and the corrupt holding on to their seats of power and privilege.

Trump is deteriorating by the day. He will lose in November. They’ve already begun the drumbeats of a rigged election, programming their base to unleash chaos at the voting precincts. They’ll challenge the results, flooding the states with conspiracy theories just like they did in 2020.

They’re learning from their failed coup. With enough legal challenges to voter rolls, state recounts and certification, their goal is to grind everything to a halt, casting just enough doubt to get the Supreme Court involved and trust their inside men, Alito and Thomas, to do the needful.

To all you defenders of democracy, it’s time to step up. No wallowing in despair or self pity. No “I’m losing hope” or “how did we get here?”. We’re here.

Suit up.

Expend every ounce of energy you have in turning out the vote. Don’t waste it arguing with propagandists and trolls on this site. Elon will have this place amplifying every conspiracy theory they can think of.

Today is D-Day.

Previous generations sacrificed a helluva lot to repel fascism from our shores.
