On Valentine’s Day 36 years ago, Carl Sagan requested NASA to turn Voyager 1's camera back toward home for one last look.
From 3.7 billion miles away, Voyager captured this image.
Here is how Carl Sagan described it:
“Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it, everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor, and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every 'superstar,' every 'supreme leader,' every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there — on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand. It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.”
Eagles v Rams: QB Comparison
Jalen Hurts vs. Matthew Stafford feels like a close one and in reality it probably is.
Stafford has one of the best arms in the NFL, has won a Super Bowl and with 222 starts in the NFL has pretty much seen it all.
The stats, however, tell a different story — a story that it maybe isn’t that close.
By almost any stat Hurts has been the better QB this season (including the most important one: wins)
Take a look:
Hurts:
On-Target Throws: 79.1% (6th)
Adjusted Accuracy: 79.9% (1st)
Bad Throw: 13.4% (9th)
Yards Per Attempt: 8.0 (4th)
Turnover Worthy Plays: 16 (12th)
Passer Rating on 3rd Down: 92.5 (13th)
Passer Rating without Pressure: 118.6
Passer Rating Under Pressure: 70.1 (15th)
Passer Rating vs. the Blitz: 102.3
QB Pressure Allowed: 31 (18th)
Average Time to Throw: 3.23 (23rd)
Rushing Stats: 630 yards, 14 TDs, 62 1st downs
Stafford:
On-Target Throws: 74.3% (27th)
Adjusted Accuracy: 73.2% (24th)
Bad Throw: 17.6% (27th)
Yards Per Attempt: 7.3 (16th)
Turnover Worthy Plays: 21 (23rd)
Passer Rating on 3rd Down: 72.5 (23rd)
Passer Rating without Pressure: 110.1
Passer Rating Under Pressure: 54.8 (24th)
Passer Rating vs. the Blitz: 104.3
QB Pressure Allowed: 8 (2nd)
Average Time to Throw: 2.31 (3rd)
Rushing Stats: 41 yards, 0 TD, 10 1st downs
If you removed the names and just asked someone who the better quarterback is it wouldn’t even be close, especially when you add in the rushing yards. A complete stranger would look at those numbers and think Hurts is clearly the better QB.
In fact, if you go back and add all the stats up from 2022 to now, Hurts has more: wins, passing yards, passing touchdowns, rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, fewer interceptions and a higher passer rating.
A counter could be that Hurts is playing with one of the best rosters in the NFL. That’s true, but it isn’t like Stafford plays with no weapons on offense. He also has a head coach that is considered one of the best offensive minds in the NFL. While Hurts has a better defense, since 2022 he is 6-4 when his defense gives up 30+ points. Stafford is 1-7.
The best counter is that Stafford throws it way more and doesn’t get to throw it in more advantageous situations like Hurts often does. Stafford has thrown it 517 times compared to 316 for Hurts. That does matter and is noteworthy when considering who is the better quarterback.
But even that might be a flawed argument. Since 2022 is 11-2 when throwing it 35+ times. Stafford is 5-10. So when both have had to throw it a ton, Hurts has won more games.
The bottom line is this one feels closer than the stats indicate — but the stats do indicate Hurts is the better quarterback.

Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs. Thomas “Hitman” Hearns, Round 1. If you’ve seen it, I don’t need to say more. If you haven’t, the next three minutes may change your goddamn life.
@WIPMorningShow Are you nuts? Team rankings I'm my heart, based on being raised in the Philly area:
1) Eagles
2) whoever plays the Cowboys this week.
ALWAYS.
#GOBIRDS
The tough schedule isn't taken into consideration enough when you look at the #Eagles stats. It skews everything (like sacks)
They played harder offenses/defenses than pretty much every other team
Expecting their stats to be comparable to teams w/easier schedules or to look similar to last year's Eagles isn't fair or realistic
@SoB_Corey You think Jimmy will play him? If he admitted to it then that's it... It should be as good as saying "I'm retiring" or "I'm sick or injured and can never play again". He disqualifies himself by admitting it. Moment of weakness nothing... He should be off of any game day roster.
