@roadcc@marcelkittel@tonymartin85 My 11 year old could have a lighthouse strapped to his bike and Guns n Roses playing alongside him and still loads of drivers in uk would close pass or claim they didn't see him. The problems are with those behind the wheel. The improvements need to start with the drivers!
@ArmitageAndi@Charliee1972 A lot of horse riders would also agree. It never ceases to amaze me why some dog owners think it's acceptable to let their dog run at you if you are on foot, bike or horse.
@Stephenshaw7 @nedboulting I worked in The Hague for a year and everyday I smiled at the 1000s cycling everyday, all weather on this splendid infrastructure. Bikes everywhere and people walking too. Integrated transport with tram, bus and train and excellent road infrastructure too for cars and trucks.
@PhilLiggett 1989 was the first TdF I watched from start to finish on channel 4. Had got into racing in Autumn of '88 after watching Kellogg's tour. Remember racing at Goodwood on day Miller had won that epic stage in Pyrenees. Used to record every stage of TdF on channel 4. Best tour ever.
@LifeAfloat What a fantastic post to read! So pleased you are recovering and can continue on your journey. As always you are a positive inspiration to so many people. Thank you.
@jeremycwhittle The lack of support for cycling as a transport option by government and a lot of uk press doesn't help. Kids are put off from cycling and less want to race. I marshalled a local TT the other week and the youngest marshall / helper was me (49)! No juniors racing. Only 35 starters.
@vpdd@Velotastic Sad to say I never knew about this ridge. On my to do list now as looks stunning. Will do some reading up on climb particulars. Thanks for sharing.
@catalanmedia Beautiful produce too. Picked closer to ripeness. First time I walked around summer markets in south of France I was amazed at the size and quality of produce.
@OJBorg@theJeremyVine@mrdanwalker I always feel so much "safer" when a car close passes me going 50+mph on a road whilst I'm in bright cycling clothing, with front and rear lights on (in the day) and wearing a helmet with 3rd party insurance. π€
