@anwesh_satpathy This is the Maharajah Express. Basically the Orient Express but inside India. Runs only during the colder months and tickets cost between 5K and 25K USD. This is not for normal Indians. It’s for intl tourists to go around North-Central-West India feeling like colonial overlords.
Also on the matter of the removal of eggs from Midday meals: Its not just eggs.
Bengal midday meal scheme also included fish and chicken on special occasions, festivals, etc. So its a significant shift from non vegetarian to vegetarian
In the egg-in-midday-meal debate, the most insensitive comments I’ve seen so far:
“There is no malnutrition in 🇮🇳 .”
“They can eat egg at home.”
“Protein intake isn’t the government’s job.”
I served on a school committee where 10-11-year-olds chewed gutkha to suppress hunger.
Whats hilarious re Indian school meals is that every industrial country has solved this. Meat, eggs, carbs, veggies to children is the bedrock of public health and a strong workforce.
A self imposed issue by Indians who cant look at any other country in the world to see lessons
Making sure kids receive protein is important. "veg/non veg" segregation is not. That's a casteist imperative and if anything the government should be working towards eradicating that
It is no coincidence that the government that is obsessed with citizenship acts and CAAs and NRCs and SIRs is PRECISELY the government that will refuse to provide a conclusive answer on what constitutes proof of citizenship. Its always been moving towards mass disengrachisement
The choice of Iskon for mid-day meals in Kolkata is a worrying trend, since they're very clear that they won't serve eggs. Eggs are the cheapest, most complete protein available, and an integral part of our food culture. Is the govt saying that eggs can be thrown but not eaten?
Imtiaz Ali has met the moment with Main Vaapas Aaunga. I’m at a loss of words. Will need to sit down and gather my thoughts before I can even talk about the film. Stellar performances from Diljit Dosanjh and Naseeruddin Shah. Watch it in theatres!
The FIR against Khan Sir is because of his Muslim identity. Anyone with ground experience knows confessions can easily be forced or fabricated under state duress to justify an arrest. With mainstream media’s help, this weaponisation of the state machinery becomes even easier.
1/10 India's deadliest aviation disaster - the Air India 171 crash, killed 260 people. But it didn't just take lives, it also took down people's reputations with it - one pilot was labelled suicidal, the other panic-stricken. But evidence shows neither were.
In my in-depth, long form investigation for @Caravan, I use the plane's satellite transmissions, maintenance records and internal correspondence for a decade between Air India and Boeing -- to show it was engine computer FADEC that was guilty and not the pilots.
At around 08:08:44 UTC, the plane's computer FADEC commanded a fuel cutoff and this is the story of how and why it did so.
Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas
"One prize-winning AI-generated short story is bad news. Three prize-winning AI-generated short stories are extremely bad news. If the judge’s commentary on the prize-winning AI-generated short story is also AI-generated, maybe we should pack it up and digest ourselves into grey goo ahead of schedule."

This is the systemic retaliation against anyone who stands up to communal fascism. He is being punished to manufacture hesitation and dread in others who might otherwise do what he did, while those who lynch and commit violence are incentivized and granted complete impunity.
Mieko Kawakami has openly criticized Murakami’s portrayal of women while still expressing admiration for his work. The problem with some of you is this insistence on viewing literature in black and white as though other readers are incapable of thinking for themselves.
