#BlackHistoryMonth may be ending, but the learning (and cooking) doesn’t stop 🧑🏾🍳
Here are four books we have in our own classroom that honor the legacy, brilliance, and global impact of Black chefs and food storytellers!
Meet John M. Young, a Black restaurateur who paved the way for what we now know as Buffalo wings in the 1960s.
His restaurant, Wings and Things, served whole wings coated in his signature spicy “Mambo Sauce,” helping shape American food culture as we know it.

You may know Arturo Schomburg as a legendary historian and the namesake of Harlem’s Schomburg Center, but did you know he also started writing a cookbook?
Schomburg's compilation of over 400 Afro-Atlantic recipes is available to view at the Schomburg Center!

#RestInPower to Rev. Jesse Jackson. Today, we honor a giant whose voice, courage, and love for our people shaped generations. Reverend Jesse Jackson was not only a civil rights icon—he was family to the NAACP.
His legacy sits at the heart of our work and at the center of this nation’s fight for justice. We carry his light forward. https://t.co/4BSEsITjD3
