@DickLeno@omgitsbirdman Brunson surpassed Paul Pierce if ur talking about both players prime, Paul Pierce had 5 all stars next to him when he won, Brunson had 1 next to him, Paul Pierce is not averaging 30+ for a finals series
@jkmarketti@omgitsbirdman And Brunson averaged 33 in the finals, so what’s your point? U brought up finals when I said the playoffs, Paul Pierce did not average 20 points the entire playoff run
You proved his point, if Brunson averaged 30 with 3 other people next to him averaging 18-20 a game, then how did Steph not average similar numbers with nobody next to him, with ur logic, Steph should of averaged 32-35 ppg like Brunson did 2 years ago when his supporting cast got hurt
Brunson had to put in energy on the defensive end as well this series, he held his opponents to under a 40% FG percentage, I’m not comparing Stephon Castle to Kobe but Brunson still had to put in a lot of energy and effort on the defensive end, Pierce is 6’7, Brunson is 6’2, it’s way harder to guard people bigger than you than it is to guard someone the same size as you
29 isn’t old old either, Curry is 38, Harden is 36, Chris Paul played until he was 40, Dame and Kyrie are in their mid to late 30s, Brunson can still play at this level I believe for another 3-4 seasons then start to decline, but can still be good enough to be an all star, just not a #1 anymore
@BeeeeJ_@KRNG_Chris@M_Swavey3 That’s not cherry picking stats, that’s taking both players when they were in their prime as the #1 on their team, u wouldn’t compare harden coming off the bench in OKC to when he started in Houston would you?
@Mattyshots11@omgitsbirdman So Brunson who’s 6’2, is averaging 30+ on a 7’5 center that clogs the paint who just won DPOTY, and that somehow isn’t just as hard as Kobe guarding Pierce? Let me remind u again, Wemby is 7’5 who won DPOTY
I’m not disagreeing with really anything u said, but the dude who responded to me misunderstood my argument, I argued that no matter in what era u are in, u need to be elite to average 25+, Pierce averaged 25 at one point, he just didn’t do it when he won, I’m saying u can’t put Pierce with Brunson when Brunson averaged more points for consecutive years in the playoffs and put up great numbers to win as a #1, Pierce didn’t do that
Brunson averaged 36 ppg vs Embiid and tied Lebron and Jordan for the most consecutive 40 point games in the playoffs, with a 3rd string center, and role players, Kyrie had Tatum and Brown who are both 2 way players and never put up close to Brunson’s numbers, KAT also had 2 points in game 5 in the finals
