Anyone heading to God's Own Country for #Museums2024, you have the opportunity for a tour of Leeds's best museum (@thackraymuseum) from their charming and expert curator on Thursday
Yesterday, some of the Hematopolitics team visited the Blood Donor Centre in Leeds (117 The Headrow). The brilliant team showed us the ins and outs of blood donation and treated us to a special tour of the building. We even got a free biscuit as part of our visit!
🩸 CALL FOR RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS 🩸 Our brilliant PhD student @sarahlchadwick is looking for participants for her project on blood donation and social difference. If you're of Caribbean or Pakistani heritage, please consider reaching out via the email address on the poster!
Had a brilliant time visiting @thackraymuseum and meeting @drjackgann .Thanks again @KingTekkers for the facilitation and congrats on the brilliant "You Choose" exhibition, which my students will be researching on for their "The Networked Lives of Museum Objects" assignment.
Welcome (back) to Hematopolitics! We are a group of researchers at Leeds working on an AHRC-funded project on blood donation and contested belonging in East Asia. This week, we are (re-)launching our social media ahead of an exciting collaboration with @thackraymuseum!
Medical humanities pals! I'll be giving a talk on accessibility, sensory experiences, and cochlear implants as part of this Thackray Insights event alongside the brilliant @KingTekkers and @drjackgann on Sat 2nd Nov at 10:30am. Tickets £10 each!

It was great to invite @Pevalwen (@aroma_prime) to visit the new 'You Choose' exhibition at @thackraymuseum last week! It took a lot of smell-induced headaches and urine-smelling clothes, but the smelling boxes are finally ready to be sniffed! @LBObjects
Also, “what if all health tech fit as well as your spectacles?” Ear defenders for those sensitive to noise, large print guides, magnifying devices. Thank you for being welcoming and inclusive - in your tools and by the attitude of your staff
If bionic eyes and artificial tongues are your thing (which of course they are), get down to the You Choose exhibition at the @thackraymuseum in Leeds, from Saturday. The exhibition explores personalised medicine and draws on work by researchers in AHC

Our new digital exhibition 'Exploring Journeys' showcases 18 rare items. https://t.co/1Zthm6GPhK #LibrariesChangeLives#Leeds
@DrEframSS@KingTekkers@thackraymuseum @LBObjects I tried to instigate a "no puns" policy when naming things for this exhibition. But you can see how well that's going!
Keep an eye out for our next exhibition 👀
Disclaimer: our curator genuinely had to carry this box of artificial eyes on the bus.
Ft. @WellcomeTrust, @UniversityLeeds and @LBObjects
📣🚨 Callout for artists, graphic designers and digital creatives
We are looking for a designer who will work collaboratively to develop the look and content of our upcoming @wellcometrust and @UniversityLeeds funded exhibition.
