@buttigiegwins @dcunningham54 I drove up to a ranch near Sedona, Arizona, on Wednesday to get a rescue dog. When I got off Interstate 17 to take a secondary road, I was surprised to see about 15 charging stations. It is happening!
Honored and delighted to introduce our former student and debut author @reallenanguyen at @changinghands tonight! Go Lena! Being interviewed by the most excellent Dr. James Blasingame.
@sabrinakenoun@Cronkite_ASU@asuEnglish@Shaya_in_LA Thanks for being a superstar, Sabrina, and keep us posted on your successes! Don't forget the promise to come back and tell my class how you did it!!!
@billkonigsberg You said something I thought was brilliant about how you understand and express an issue/topic. Something like: I start with myself and move outward. You expressed it more eloquently. What did you say?
Congratulations to @billkonigsberg on this starred review from @PublishersWkly! ✨ #TheBridge is a powerful, life-affirming book about the impact of depression and "the gifts of human connection". Start reading: https://t.co/2dZXGEoUqI
@gksparker@ALANorg@ncte Kathy Deakin, Laura Brown and I wrote a book about John Green, who has not been to ALAN or NCTE in a long time. He will be getting the ALAN Award at our ALAN breakfast and delivering a speech. I am also looking forward to seeing him.
@gksparker@ALANorg@ncte Q7: It was in Chicago in 1996, and I was so surprised that people could come in person to person contact with living authors!!!
@MrsBoisvert@ALANorg Christopher Paul Curtis, back 20 years or so ago, he was the keynote speaker for the ALAN Breakfast, and he bought every person in the room a membership to ALAN if they did not already have one.
@gksparker@ALANorg@ncte If I don’t know them, I look at their nametag and try to think of something about their home state or town that I know. Then I ask who their young readers are reading lately. I get emails and become Facebook friends.
@gksparker@ALANorg@ncte I keep a cart of 300 or so that I push to class every day. I have shelves of hundreds more at home, and thousands more in two ASU offices. Nevertheless, twice a year I have to give books away by the hundreds to teachers, librarians and aspiring teacher.

@ALANorg Don’t be shy. Walk right up to people you would like to meet, stick out your hand, and say, “Hello, Mr. Mendez, I am Juana Flores from Buckeye, Arizona, I teach 9th grade, and my kids and I love your book Missing Nearly Everything.”
