The IMF has proposed two possible paths for the next century: a "low ambition" scenario with modest improvements in the standard of living and a "high ambition" scenario focused on building a more sustainable and fair global economy https://t.co/rdPxL9TAeq
The number of people living in absolute poverty in the UK rose by 600,000 to 12m, with a proportionally bigger increase in children in that position (up 300,000 to 3.6m children); 3.7m do not have enough money for food https://t.co/jnsgpEGYM1
Public mistrust of politics can spill over into scepticism about science used in govt policy; the public is more likely to trust science-informed policy when any gaps in evidence are not obscured but set out clearly https://t.co/6JkrlEz0UA
Unsure why this image of Muizenberg beach in Cape Town is the cover story for any BBC reporting on the entire continent of Africa?! Seems very lazy and downplays the severity of some of the events being reported @BBCWorld @BBC
A very thought provoking essay on the role of the witness, what it is to see, and why we fail to act. There are so many conflicts in this world and I often reflect on the selective witnessing and (in)action outside of the regions.

The situation in the UK is deeply concerning. Health is declining and health inequalities are widening. This is not the case with other European countries. The UK's rankings have gone down since 2014. What a tragic waste of lives @ucl@bmj_latest
Just watched an excellent presentation by Douglas Bourn providing an overview of Climate Justice and Social Action - in part debunking the assumption that climate change is not an issue of concern for people living in poverty. https://t.co/EGm6osgWbj
Socks are a real need to homeless people. Imagine you have to store all your belongings in a backpack carried with you all day. Jeans, shirts, underwear, socks ... and, socks get dirty fast. If you're looking to help people, giving socks is a good start.

Delighted to share that I have been offered a permanent academic position at UCL. 🥳 Here’s why I resisted the strong urge to write an academic ‘origin story’ to celebrate…. https://t.co/jogujEqd9V

Watched the moving film Bhashaili. It highlights the systemic oppression and removal of rights of Pakstani Bengalis through revocation of citizenship. This statelessness limits access to education, healthcare and many other fundamental human rights. Kudos @HumeraIqbal1 and team!
