Another 'herbivore' turned 'omnivore' - Brush-tailed Possum devours a Red-eye Cicada (like Black Princes and Black Fridays, but with red eyes). So many dead/dying cicadas on the ground must be irresistible #WildOz
Red-necked pademelons are only known as ‘herbivores’ – this paddy relishes a cicada, so ‘omnivore’ seems more fitting. Amazing what shows up within 8 straight years of scouting camera use - https://t.co/GqxcXSxq1v #WildOz
After record rains early in 2020, record clouds of mosquitoes chased us indoors. Clearly the chasing was not restricted to us – hop fast Red-necked Pademelons! Probably record levels of mosquito-borne diseases too! #WildOz
We regularly see Satin Bowerbirds stealing blue from the bowers of other Satins. Here is a record of a Regent Bowerbird stealing blue from a Satin. The CSIRO book indicates that Regents may have blue because they cohabit with Satins - but here we see downright theft! #wildoz
Starting in 2016, Superb lyrebirds have been taking over the surrounds of our house.... it is getting very bizarre! Awaiting the next strange installment!!? Their numbers have increased since a 'pulse' of dingoes in 2015 - see https://t.co/9Ak6I24wBu #WildOz#bird#ornithology
Getting more interesting! .....a record of Albert's lyrebird only 100 km away is evidently based on a preserved specimen held at the Museum of Victoria. #WildOz#ornithology#birds#birding
Anyone with knowledge on the distribution of Albert's lyrebird? Atlas of Living Aust suggests rare occurrences down the NSW coast (record = HERE) #WildOz#ornithology#birds#birding
