@juliaisobela The “correct” answer to “what area of medicine are you thinking about?” is whatever rotation / placement you’re on! It’ll guarantee their engagement in teaching you. Only if / when they become a friend or mentor do you say what you REALLY want to do.
Loads of stuff appearing about doctors being ideologically anti-tory and wanting to bring down the govt. Stuff like this:
But you see most medicine is ideological and a bit political.
I work in emergency medicine. I would love this government to go. Here’s why:

THREAD: The Benefits of EU Membership
Let's remind ourselves of some of the things Brexit took from us when we left the EU. (Not an exhaustive list.)
1. No barriers to trade with the world's largest trading bloc. (Bristol, Berlin, Barcelona all equally accessible.)
Several household name BBC journalists should be required to explain why, *for seven years*, they have failed to do what @MarinaPurkiss does here with consummate ease...
In a complex MDT today discussing very high risk patients. I was reminded of a really important piece of advice…. What can we offer to the patient to whom we can’t offer any treatment? ….. Our time.

48553 cases today. 100 more patients in ICU with covid19 than 5days ago. No one talking about covid length of stay so I will.
Median ICU stay:-
Heart/major cancer surgery 1-2d
Covid (not ventilated) 5d
Covid (ventilated) 20d
Covid (kidney support) 32d
Do the maths
The problem with Britain is a large chunk of the population think its an outrage if a poor person spends a fraction of a food voucher on booze but don't bat an eye when private firms take 80% of food vouchers for their own profits
It annoys me so much when politicians say the UK response to #Covid19UK is such a success because the NHS was not overwhelmed. When you start with such a low bar it’s easy to achieve. Other countries started with trying to save the most lives, or not to have an outbreak at all.
