Good news! I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been selected for Cohort 1 of the Legacy Leaders Training Programme by @YALIRwandachap
Being part of the very first cohort feels like a real privilege, and I’m genuinely excited for what this opportunity holds. For a while I’ve been looking for that next step that actually moves the needle in my leadership journey and this feels like it. Grateful that the work I’ve been putting in is being recognised, and even more grateful for the chance to keep growing so I can show up better for the people and communities around me.
Can’t wait to learn, connect with other young leaders, and turn this into real impact.
Huge thanks to @YALIRwandachap and @rlceastafrica for making this possible.

Culture and daily life show both the strength and the trap. We still gather for introductions, for last funerals, for clan meetings. The music, the food, the way a stranger will still give you directions in Luganda or Runyankole or Acholi, that social fabric held us when the state was weaker. It also papers over how many families now survive on remittances from children in the Gulf or Europe, or on the daily scramble that mobile money merely speeds up. Lifestyle for the connected is data bundles, Netflix when the power holds, and weekends at the lakes. For most it is still the price of charcoal, the cost of school fees that keep rising, and the calculation of whether the next sickness will wipe out the year’s savings. That gap is not independence. It is two countries sharing a flag.
True independence is not the flag or the parade we scaled down this year to save money. It is the ability to feed, teach, power, and defend yourself without begging, and the confidence to trade and partner without being owned. It means coffee that leaves as roasted, packaged, branded product, not just green beans. It means oil revenue that builds fabrication capacity and technical colleges instead of only funding the next campaign. It means @Parliament_Ug that can actually check the executive, courts that ordinary people trust, and a civil service where the file moves because the rules say so, not because someone was paid. It means leaders who treat forty years as long enough and prepare a handover while they still have the strength to shape it, instead of receiving medals for staying.
We are not isolated and we should not try to be. The Dutch and the French brought capital for the oil. Chinese contractors built dams and roads. Kenyan and Tanzanian markets take our goods. Those links are useful. They become dependence when we never learn the skill, never own the next design, and never say no to a loan whose terms we cannot meet. The people already practise a rough independence every morning: the farmer who keeps planting despite the middlemen, the mechanic who reverse-engineers the part, the teacher who buys chalk with her own money. Leaders celebrating today should match that stubbornness. Cut the waste that everyone can see. Put the wage bill and the contracts where the youth and the schools can feel them. Let the next generation contest power without fearing the state. Do that, and the sixty-fifth year can be more than another speech about sovereignty. It can start to look like the thing our grandparents thought they were getting in 1962.
Happy Independence Day, Fellow Ugandans
64 years today. October 9, 1962, the Union Jack came down and the Uganda Flag went up. Our grandparents stood in the sun and believed the future would finally answer to us. So yes, celebrate.
The peace that has held for most of the last forty years is not nothing. The roads that now reach places that used to take days are not nothing. The fact that a market woman in Owino or a boda rider can move money on a phone without walking into a bank is not nothing. @mtnug and @Airtel_Ug built that layer under our feet while many of us were still arguing about politics.
Coffee earnings have hit records above 2 billion dollars. Oil is finally close. The economy that @KagutaMuseveni keeps reminding us was under four billion dollars in the mid-1980s is now spoken of in the high sixties. We celebrate this success. We celebrate the leadership across the years and @GovUganda
However, while Political independence arrived. Economic independence is still a speech. We still sell the bean and buy the cup. Gold and coffee together make up the bulk of what leaves the country; most of the value stays elsewhere. The East African Crude Oil Pipeline and the Lake Albert fields are led by @TotalEnergies and @CNOOCUgandaLtd . The money, the technology, the skilled jobs at the top, and the long contracts sit with them. We will get revenue, God willing, once the crude actually flows. We will not automatically get the engineering schools, the fabrication yards, or the habit of owning the next project ourselves.
Debt is already climbing toward the mid-fifties as a share of the economy, and debt service eats more than a third of what government collects. That is not sovereignty. That is a monthly reminder that someone else holds the pen on part of the budget.
Look at the young people. Nearly 4 in 5 Ugandans are under thirty. Roughly 700,000 of them step into the job market every year; formal jobs created are a fraction of that. They are not lazy. They are on the apps, in the markets, fixing phones in downtown shops, running side hustles that @mtnug sometimes amplifies. They watch lectures on cheap data when the lecturer does not show up. At Makerere’s Jinja campus this week students were marching because they had paid millions and some units still had no teacher with exams weeks away. Primary schools still run on parent contributions because the public allocation per child is tiny. We expanded access and then watched quality thin out. A country that cannot reliably teach its own children to read, count, and fix things is not independent. It is borrowing its future from whoever will train the ones who leave.
Corruption sits in the middle of all of it. The latest perceptions index put us at 25 out of 100, sliding. People do not need the ranking. They see the classroom that was paid for and never finished, the health centre whose drugs disappear, the dam that needed repairs almost as soon as it was opened. Money that should have stayed in the parish ends up in Kampala compounds or foreign accounts. When leaders talk about a second phase of economic liberation, the ordinary person hears the same promise that has been made while the same faces have remained in the big offices since 1986. Forty years is longer than most of the population has been alive. Stability was bought. The price has been the absence of any normal handover. No country stays sharp when the same small circle decides who rises and who is shut out for decades.
Today was one of those days that reminded me why I care so much about the work we are doing a @MULTITECHBS .
I coordinated a medical camp in partnership with Bukesa Medical Center, bringing health services to our students and the wider Bukesa community.
We were able to offer services including HIV & syphilis testing, Hepatitis B testing, malaria testing, cervical cancer screening, immunisation, blood grouping, blood donation, dental screening and counselling.
I want to sincerely appreciate Multitech Management, for trusting the idea, supporting it and making sure it could happen.
Thank you to Bukesa Medical Center for the partnership and for extending these services to our community.
And to my Guild team; thank you. A lot of the work that made today possible happened quietly: calls, coordination, mobilisation, logistics and making sure things moved. I saw the effort.
For me, the real value of initiatives is
I want to keep pushing for a Multitech where our work translates into things students and the surrounding community can actually feel and benefit from.
Today was one of those days. And I am proud of what we put together.

@sundarpichai the chart looks strong. The product still isn’t in people’s hands. That is why @Google still feels behind @OpenAI.
Gemini 4 Argon wins on several of the work tasks @Google chose to highlight. It looks better at long office workflows, legal research, finance research, and some kinds of software work. Those are real jobs, not trivia. If the numbers hold up once outsiders can test it, Argon is a serious model.
But the race people actually feel is simpler: which model can I open today, and can it finish a messy task on a computer without me babysitting it. On that test, GPT-6 Astra is already out. @OpenAI has been putting it into ChatGPT for paying users and into the API. Argon is going first to a small group of cyber defenders and to teams inside @Google. Everyone else is asked to wait.
That wait matters because this is not the first delay. @Google skipped the last big Gemini upgrade it promised in June. The last true flagship was almost a year ago. In that same stretch, @OpenAI shipped Astra and let people use it. Independent rankings still put that public model first. Argon cannot show up on those lists yet, because almost nobody outside @Google can run it.
The user picture is the same story in plain terms. ChatGPT is no longer as dominant as it was a year ago. Gemini has grown fast through Search, Android, and the cheaper models. That is a real win for @Google. It is also not the same thing as winning the top-model race. Most people still start with ChatGPT when they want the strongest assistant they can actually try tonight.
@Google does have two advantages worth saying out loud. If the launch price holds, Argon should cost less than Astra. And the internal stories are better than a slide deck: teams at @Google are already using it for hard engineering work, including quantum research and large code rewrites. That is the kind of proof that matters. It just does not help a developer or a company that cannot get the model yet.
So the fair read of today’s post is not that @Google has no model. It is that @Google announced a model while @OpenAI already shipped one. Charts can close a quality gap. They cannot close an access gap. Until Argon is in the Gemini app and available like ChatGPT is available, the feeling that @Google is lagging is going to stick.
Yesterday at the White House, leaders from across our industry came together to sign the White House Accord on Super Intelligence.
The principle is simple: the companies building this technology have the primary responsibility to develop and deploy it safely, and to be accountable when they fall short.
The Accord reinforces that responsibility with robust internal controls, independent external evaluation, and board level oversight.
Super Intelligence offers an extraordinary opportunity to advance discovery, productivity, security, health, and prosperity.
The future of Super Intelligence will be shaped not only by what it can do, but by the confidence it earns. By building with ambition, rigor, and responsibility, we can help ensure this extraordinary technology expands opportunity and improves lives for generations to come.
🤖 What if your #Flutter app could generate its UI based on what the user actually wants?
@OKougbada explores how GenUI + Serverpod can power agentive Flutter apps using a single #Dart codebase—where AI-generated widget instructions dynamically shape the interface at runtime.
You’ll see #Gemini, genui_catalog, Serverpod, and self-hosted deployment come together in a production-ready full-stack Dart workflow.
