@ASanchezs65@JSG_54 I've been on meds for almost 20 years. Always compliant, like most chronic pain patients. Yet illicit fentanyl people buy on the streets hurts us all. The "opioid crisis" is bullshit and has led to suicide due to pain. Read the stats on that instead of posting made up numbers.
@ThereWillBStars@AndreaMoceri3@JoeAllenNewman Exactly Anyone who watches a show like that, 1 sided to fit the bullshit "opioid crisis " narrative needs to speak with pain pts. I've had 24/7 pain my entire life. I've been stable and compliant on my meds for over 15 years. Very small % of people actually have addictive gene.
@JoeAllenNewman@AndreaMoceri3 Suicide due to pain continues to rise. Pain pts are force tapered or completely cut off pain medications. If not for my meds, I'd be another statistic. Pain is very individual. My 5 could be someone else's 10 and vice versa.
@AndreaMoceri3@JoeAllenNewman As a life long pain pt, I've been on opioids for over 15 years. They allow me to tolerate my 24/7 pain. I'm not an addict, I'm compliant. Shows like that are really misleading and one sided. Please speak to pain patients you'll get a much better perspective and understanding.
@SandyPideritPhD@JoeAllenNewman Unfortunately there are more and more cases where pt is terminal yet Dr.'s won't give adequate meds. And this does include pts on Hospice. It needs to stop because pts deserve comfortable end of life care at the very least.
@xTabbyDarlingx @CMerandi Please get post-op care and pain control plan in writing with both you and your surgeon signing it. That's the only way I'll have surgery, and I've had 25 in my 52 years. Refusing adequate pain control or going back on what was discussed is absolutely cruel. We need to stand up.
@JenluvsTheCards@CMerandi Good for you. I now tell everyone to discuss post-op pain control with a surgeon. If it's not adequate, cancel surgery. Some will go ahead and give meds so they don't lose a surgery. If they still refuse, find a surgeon who will take care of you. We need to take a stand.
@Katamac1967@CMerandi Exactly. If they try to refuse any real pain control, cancel surgery. Many will change their minds and prescribe so they don't lose out on a surgery. If they still refuse, go elsewhere. I've heard of only TYLENOL being given after a C-section! We need to take a stand.
@TinsleyLBC1 LOVE it! My parents just celebrated 63 years! They started dating at 15, married at 20. Created an amazing and beautiful life for our family. I'm grateful the universe brought them together and chose me as their daughter. ๐
@SpeakPain2Power Please inform them you'll go elsewhere without pain control. It's happening more often. Some patients aren't given pain meds after a C-section! Just Tylenol. Terminal patients are denied. We have got to fight back.
@fostergram4@CMerandi Exactly. I'm 52. I've had 24/7 pain for 52 years due to a vascular malformation in my lower left leg that I was born with. Meds take the edge off enough to function, get out of bed. Without meds my other option is amputation. Or death like millions of other chronic pain pts.
@CMerandi If they'd spend 5 minutes in the body of a chronic pain patient, they'd quickly understand what we go through and that pain meds help. Until then, they continue to spew their twisted narrative. No one can fully understand without feeling it.
@ILuhsHappoIDo@WendyHassonMD I didn't hear about it until a friend posted what happened...4 hours later. They don't seem to think gun violence is worthy of even a blurb anymore.
@WendyHassonMD I am heartbroken this happened. Again. One of my friends is an RT and was there at the time. Regardless of how close or involved a person was in these tragic situations, it's traumatic.
@CMerandi I pay out of pocket for my pain meds and use Healthspring a prescription discount . Monthly med would vary from $150-$180 but I pay $25. I have Atrio which is a local Medicare and they require way too much to pay for it and even then it'd likely be denied. Not worth the hassle
@CMerandi IF she didn't take meds and returned them..ok? Everyone's pain level is different. Chronic pain is something we learn to live around because meds take the edge off. My 5 could be someone's 10 and vice versa. She's not a hero for claiming she didn't need them.
