@NickTriggle Disingenuous, sloppy, inaccurate, daily mail online standards of journalism - bbc impartiality is questionable here, either standards are dropping or yet further examples of the bbc being corrupted by the conservatives
Pret coffee baristas can now earn up to £14.10 per hour based on location.
After a 5 year medical degree, a doctor is paid £14.09 per hour.
When baristas are earning more than physicians, something has to give.
It's time for doctors' pay to be brought to sensible levels.
Why are 'junior' doctors balloting on strike action? The true state of pay and conditions: a thread. All data and sources accurate to the best of my knowledge. Infographics provided.
@evertonw@LBC@mattfrei The story is that the public aren't aware that a FY1 (1st year Doctor) earns £14 per hour. He could be taking home less than £1700 as a full time Dr in London. You don't need to be a gambler living in Knightsbridge to struggle on that. Below is a payslip of a FY2 (2nd year Dr)
'He can't even afford to heat his flat.'
This LBC caller says her brother, who is a NHS doctor, has become a 'shadow of himself' and is 'only able to afford one meal a day'.
@mattfrei
Today's issues as an F1 in the NHS:
1. being asked to do TTOs for three patients who were new over the weekend, that haven't been medically reviewed, before 9am by the nurse manager
2. matron arriving and declaring that "6 need to be discharged from every hospital ward today"
Actually makes me cry how far from this our working conditions actually are ... sitting on bins, getting changed in smelly toilets and not even having an drs office on a ward @NHSBartsHealth
Unsure why my trust thought this was a good idea to post when junior doctors are being refused lockers, have to change in the toilets, the doctors office light is broken and we don’t have a place to rest on a 12h night shift.

Say you grew up in Scotland without saying you grew up in Scotland.
Used to buy 10p gingerbread men on the way to school, this is what they looked like. #Scotland#Scottish
Amazed at the replies on this thread thinking it’s not true. This is my monthly take home whilst working as an FY2 doctor in General Practice. #OverworkedUnderpaid
We are also taking steps to create a strike fund, through donations, to support doctors who want to take part in industrial action but may be reluctant to do so because of financial difficulties #BMAStrikefund 4/4
