@CatherineMcNiel Soooo fascinating! Also, I had no idea corporate offices could be so incredibly creepy — I don’t know enough about filmmaking to parse what they did, but the angles and lighting were simultaneously bland and terrifying.
Last year, I organized my first Stations of the Cross, and I’m even more excited about what our Stations team at Savior put together this year. Definitely a high point in my Holy Week! If you’re local, stop by till 8 tonight, from 12-5 tomorrow, or on Friday between 1 and 3.
I know, I know. Not all middle-aged white dudes. But nearly every person I’ve ever see do this (at many, many cookie booths) is one, and even if they intend to give the girls a learning moment, it’s patronizing AF for girls and adult volunteers alike.
Dear middle-aged white dudes buying Girl Scout cookies (a PSA): please remember that they are kids learning skills, not performing for your gratification. Talk to the girls but pay attention to their comfort level and do NOT chide adults for supporting girls in their sales pitch.
@AlyssaKayeB Adding that to my TBR! In the opposite direction (ie comedy) have you read Dear Committee Members and the sequel The Shakespeare Requirement? Academic novels, so a bit niche, but also hilarious
@bcastlemiller@bethfelkerjones Are either of you aware of https://t.co/rlC6MZ0zOE? They sell a lot of Japanese pens, and they’re my go-to site for fine tip pens. My current pen of choice is the Sakura Pigma Micron in .25mm (Uniball Signos were my gateway pen …).
TLDR version: don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Don’t cut people off from worship and community because they can’t participate in certain ways. And maybe even ask why we privilege certain ways of doing church community and wonder, who we are leaving out?

I’ve been wrestling with Tish Harrison Warren’s NYT op-ed, because I think she’s deeply wrong but also she gets enough hate already for just existing as a woman priest. So, a thread on what she misses by cutting people off from online connections with the body of Christ.

I’m with Tish that embodied worship matters, that there’s deep value in worshiping together, and even that streaming services can’t fully replicate communal worship. But why cut people off from communal worship just because they can’t be in a certain physical space?
