The GMA experience is a reminder that the work happening in cities across Georgia matters. From infrastructure and housing to public safety, economic development, youth engagement, and quality-of-life initiatives, local leaders are working every day to move their communities.
In education, I often hear people remind teachers that every student is someone's whole world.
And they're right. Teachers understand that better than anyone.
That's why they stay late.
Answer emails after hours.
Spend their own money on supplies.
Lose sleep worrying about students.
Carry the emotional weight of children long after the dismissal bell rings.
But here's my question.
What about the teachers who have children of their own?
Or family who depend on them
A family who loves them and needs them.
People who are their whole world.
Too often, the guilt, pressure, and expectations placed on educators mean those people receive what's left instead of what's best.
If we truly care about students, we should also care about the people who dedicate their lives to them.
Because the goal shouldn't be for teachers to sacrifice their own world to serve everyone else's.
The goal should be to support teachers well enough that they can give their best to both.
Hey y’all! I don’t use this account often, but I want residents to know how to reach me and stay updated.
