Ilhan Omar may have misrepresented her birth. She claims she was 17 in the year 2000. Her birth year of 1981 was on her legislative page, Wikipedia, and many other webpages. So, When her Father was eligible to apply for naturalization, she would have been already over 18 years which meant she would have had to apply separately for citizenship instead of naturalization under a parent who was naturalized.

After Omar’s birthdate was first questioned back in December a2025, many references to Omar’s birth were changed to 1982, but many were not. In the comments see the many pages I found, that say she was born in 1981. She would then be ineligible for Congress due to the fact she is a Somalian National who never applied for citizenship.
